Rapper/Songwriter Cardan, born Pierre Jones, hails from Harlem, NY. A visionary with a talent for creating energetic music, Cardan is ready for his turn on the mic. Best known as the ghostwriter for Hip Hop stars P.Diddy, Bow Wow, Lil’ Kim, Mase, Lil’ Fizz and Nick Cannon to name a few, Cardan has also co-written music with Hip-Hop powerhouse Nelly. Cardan has been gaining steady recognition as an artist and businessman and is currently in the studio working on his debut album which boasts featured appearances from Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Steph Jones and Rashad. He is currently working on upcoming projects for Nas, Ludacris, The Game, Memphis Bleek, Vanessa Hudgens, Letoya Luckett and LL Cool J.

Last summer Cardan released his first single, club banger “Million Dolla Shift,” which garnered national radio play and exploded on the club scene getting consistent spins from DJ Clue, DJ Envy, DJ Enuff, DJ Absolut and DJ Suss One. In February 2007, Cardan released his first-ever mixtape, “The Rebirth, Vol. 1” hosted by DJ Envy. The mixtape was sold out in most NYC locations and also garnered positive reviews in Scratch Magazine, The Source Magazine, Ozone Magazine and Hip Hop Weekly.

In November 2006, Cardan teamed up with his long time friend Jason Martin to form The Academy, an independent record label and signed up and coming R&B singer Ron Dealz as well as Cardan’s younger brother, rapper Tyquan to the label.

Cardan began rapping at the age of 10 and was noticed by multi-platinum recording artist Mase who immediately recognized his talent and began grooming him for a career as a recording artist. After appearing on numerous mixtapes, Cardan signed a major record deal with Penalty Records at the age of 15. He recorded an album with music from the record featured on two motion picture movie soundtracks, “Ride” and “The Black Mask.” Cardan collaborated with Jermaine Dupri for his first single “Jam On It” off of the Ride soundtrack, but Penalty Records eventually fell into money problems and never released Cardan’s album.

Soon after, Mase handpicked Cardan to be a member of his group Harlem World. Before the release of the album, Cardan and Mase had a falling out and Cardan left the group. Cardan’s mother passed away shortly after and he was left to fend for himself. Having just lost his mother and dealing with the consequences of leaving the group and one of the most successful and influential artists at the time, Cardan became disenchanted with the politics of the music industry.

After taking a break, Cardan focused on writing and became one of the top songwriters in his genre securing a publishing deal with powerhouse EMI. Flying high off his writing success, Cardan jumped back on the mic and made memorable feature appearances on the St. Lunatics’, Free City, Jim Jones’, Harlem: Diary of a Summer, Mases’, Welcome Back and Murphy Lees, Murphys Law as well as numerous mixtapes including DJ Clue, DJ Absolut and Kay Slay.

With his career back on track, Cardan would suffer a life changing experience. In the summer of 2005 Cardan was shot 3 times, once in the stomach, in the right hand and in his left heal with a 45-caliber gun. His stomach injuries were life threatening and Cardan would endure 6 hours of surgery, over 2 weeks in the intensive care unit at Harlem Hospital and 75 staples in his stomach.

Currently, Cardan is one of the most sought after writers in the business and has been featured in The Source Magazine, Ozone Magazine, Scratch Magazine, AllHipHop.com, Sohh.com, HOT 97 and POWER 105.1 to name a few.
