Video: The Brooklyn Nets Defeat The Knicks (Jay-Z Responds)

Written by Nigel D. / 11.27.12

The Knicks played the Nets for the first time in what the NBA called, “Clash of the Boroughs.” While most thought Brooklyn would take an L at home, they managed to win in overtime, you can see Jay-Z’s response above. I was lucky enough to be in the building and meet the Brooklyn Knight who I can confirm is Memphis Bleek(j/k). It was a great game and there was lot of energy in the building. New York is big enough for two teams no need for Knicks fans to be bitter!

Check below for Spike Lee’s intro for the game.

Video: Is Jack Taylor’s 138 Points In A NCAA DIII Game Impressive?

Written by Nigel D. / 11.21.12

Yes, putting up 138 points in a game sounds amazing and did set an NCAA record. But to get to that point he was 52-108 in field goals made, which includes 27-71 in three pointers. With all those three pointers attempted and with a look at his opponents, are you still impressed? Taylor’s team won, 179-104.

Kobe Bryant Releases A Statement About The Firing Of Mike Brown

Written by Nigel D. / 11.10.12

Tough day. I’ve seen coaches as well as friends come and go. No matter how many years I’ve been playing, it’s still hard to deal with. I had a good relationship with Mike and I will continue to have one. I wish him and his family nothing but the best. I spoke with him today and thanked him for all of his hard work and sacrifice.

As a team, we must focus our energy on tonight’s game. We must block out the weight of today’s news and simply do our jobs to the best of our ability.

I’m not sure what direction we are heading in next. All I can do is focus on the here and now.
Mamba out

I knew this was a matter of time after the Lakers started the season 1-4(last place in the West). Well the Lakers won tonight against the Warriors to improve to 2-4. Now there is talk of Phil Jackson coming back. How far do you see the Lakers going this year?

Don’t worry about Mike Brown, he got a $11 million buyout and is some club doing the money dance right now.

The NBA Announces Penalties For “Flopping”

Written by Nigel D. / 10.03.12

“Flops have no place in our game — they either fool referees into calling undeserved fouls or fool fans into thinking the referees missed a foul call,” Jackson said. “Accordingly, both the Board of Governors and the Competition Committee felt strongly that any player who the league determines, following video review, to have committed a flop should — after a warning — be given an automatic penalty.” The league will announce at a later date a separate set of penalties for flopping that will apply during the playoffs.

The NBA will makes some new rules this season to help curve, “flopping.” The NBA defines, “flopping,” as, “as any physical act that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player.” For the first flop a player will get a warning, second time a fine for $5000. The penalties increase for each flop after that reaching $30k once you hit 5. After the fifth flop a player could face suspension. Is this a good move by the NBA?

Video: Kobe Bryant Speaks On The New Lakers’ Lineup (“It’s The Best Talent I’ve Been Around”)

Written by Nigel D. / 10.02.12

“On its face, it’s the best talent I’ve been around,” Bryant said. “Whether that translates into winning a championship remains to be seen. But just on paper you’re talking Defensive Player of the Years, MVPs, All-Stars. You’re talking about a myriad of things. Guys who are at the top of their position at one point or another. It’s pretty dope.”
