Moved by the terrible events at Virginia Tech last week, singer-songwriter R. Kelly has written and recorded a song of encouragement in memory of the victims and in condolence to their families. As the details of the tragedy were unfolding last week, Kelly was traveling across the country on his tour bus for a performance. Deeply affected by the news, he was inspired to write lyrics he shaped into a song entitled, “Rise Up,” a moving anthem in honor and remembrance of the victims of this heartbreaking event.
At Kelly’s request, his label, Jive/Zomba Records is making the track available as a digital single for sale on Tuesday, May 15th in hopes of spreading the message of hope and unity. R. Kelly and Jive will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the digital single sales to the university’s official fund, The Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, and listeners who buy the track will be able to access a direct link to the memorial website. Recalling the spirit of triumph in one of Kelly’s previous celebrated anthems, “I Believe I Can Fly,” “Rise Up” is meant to offer encouragement and solace in the face of this senseless tragedy; ” … We’ll be strong together, Stand together, Pray together, Rise up.” To learn more about the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, visit http://www.vt.edu/tragedy/memorial_fund.php.

Is R.Kelly ever going to jail? I’m a big fan of his older songs, he got mad hits, but damn, he did tap an underage girl. If I had made that tape I would already been in jail years ago, not out making music videos and being on magazines. What makes this case stand out is everyone has seen the tape, and there is really little doubt that its him. Thoughts…..
According to MTV.com, R.Kelly will be releasing a new album this May and might release a concert DVD. R.Kelly has been keeping busy appearing with Snoop on, “Thats That,” and some remixes to Promise and Make It Rain. He actually plans to release more Trapped in the closet episodes, umm I think it had a spark when it started, but now its just garbage. My question is how is dude not in jail after the whole world already seen the tape of him and his underage friend? Full Story
