Barack Obama Comments On Hip Hop

I was there at the beginning, but I was already getting older. … What I’ve appreciated, watching this hip-hop generation, is to see how entrepreneurial they’ve been. In the past, musicians oftentimes were commodities. They were just shuffled around. Obviously, they did well, but they didn’t have the vision to say, ‘I’m going to build a business. I’m going to build my own studio. I’m going to create my own production operations.’ I think they’re a lot more sophisticated than in the past, and that is a wonderful thing.”

Economic Fears Give Obama Clear Lead Over McCain in Poll

Turmoil in the financial industry and growing pessimism about the economy have altered the shape of the presidential race, giving Democratic nominee Barack Obama the first clear lead of the general-election campaign over Republican John McCain, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News national poll.

More voters trust Obama to deal with the economy, and he currently has a big edge as the candidate who is more in tune with the economic problems Americans now face. He also has a double-digit advantage on handling the current problems on Wall Street, and as a result, there has been a rise in his overall support. The poll found that, among likely voters, Obama now leads McCain by 52 percent to 43 percent. Two weeks ago, in the days immediately following the Republican National Convention, the race was essentially even, with McCain at 49 percent and Obama at 47 percent.

Obama Interrupted By, “Blacks Against Obama”

Obama was in the middle of speaking about the economic crisis when a roar rippled across the crowd of supporters. When the cameras turned away, they caught a glimpse several black protesters holding up signs against the Democratic presidential candidate.

The “Black Against Obama” group of about 10 protesters held up several signs, such as one that stated that Obama was for gay marriage and abortion, and another that said his candidacy was “endorsed by the KKK.” Another sign said, “Jesse Jackson hates Obama.”
