This is a radio/industry guy, no industry person is going to give a real opinion on an album by someone with so much sway in the industry, if JayZ put out a wack album do you think he would say so? Nigel, NONE of these industry guys opinions matter at all, they are in a position where giving a bad review is harmful to the business, this album is lyrically shit and hiphop is about lyrics at the end of the day, this isn’t a hiphop album plain and simple
LOL HOW IS THIS ALBUM SAVING HIP HOP?
1. ITS NOT EVEN A HIP HOP ALBUM, ITS SOME ELETRONIC ROBOT BULLSHIT
2. HIP HOP DOESNT NEED TO BE SAVED BY ANYONE
3. KANYE HAS BEEN TELLING PEOPLE FOR SO LONG THAT HES SOME KIND OF GENIUS THAT PEOPLE ACTUALLY BELIEVE IT, THE SAME WAY WAYNE TOLD EVERYONE HE WAS THE BEST RAPPER ALIVE FOR YEARS. HE COULD RELEASE A SONG OF HIM TAKING A DUMP AND NIGGAS WOULD REACH FOR SOME DEEPER MEANING
THE WHOLE CD IS GARBAGE
Save Hip-Hop my ass that album is trash.
@times2 Agreed these guys are full of shit Ebro is talkin about the sound of the album & if he is sayin that people shouldn’t be mad at that… I think that is a fair argument but as stated above this is lyrical trash…. I would say 3 out of 10 songs are lyrically good… that is 30% haha not a passing grade… If people are going to focus on the sound of the album, ignore the weak ass lyrics, & ultimately say it’s the way the music makes you feel that matters… then you have just vindicated everything the South as been criticized about over the past decade & what’s even worse is that the sounds on Kanye’s album are heavily sampled from other music, with multiple producers on a track… while a lot of the feel & sound from a lot of Southern music with little lyrical content was original sound… little to no sampling again the industry is full of dickriders.. if you like this album that is your personal business but don’t try to convince those of us who find the majority of the album especially in the lyrical department to be trash wrong for our opinion & as you stated… there are a lot of us out here who feel that way
Co-Sign!!!! If u like that album, I can’t tell u not to. Bt don’t try to act like my ears are simple cause I don’t like this shit
these critics are just fools. They don’t want to hear the lyrical kanye, the hurt kanye, the happy kanye, they want the trash kanye, the rock’n’roll kanye, they’re comparing him to nirvana now. He really got all of us hip hop fans down. all of us.
If anybody’s ablum saved Hip Hop its Coles Born Sinner… Album of the decade right there….. Real Talk.
i agree with everybody on this post. I love the fact that hip hop can be fused with rock, reggae, jazz, even electro music but when i turned on the album i honestly felt frantic…i tried to adjust the bass…the treble and didnt know where to go….then the beat finally came in for onsight…it was so distorted it was ridiculous….I skipped on to the next one then the next then stopped at new slaves which is more of the direction i feel the album should have went. His background is artsy, black power influenced and thats cool, but this album gets lost in its own creativity. From the new JayZ samsung commercial it sounds like Hov is pushing again to outdo himself which is good but he sticks to the basics. Boom bap with different instrumentation…u hear the 99 problems pt. 2 type joint but u also hear timbo, swizzy, he has a great formula….there is no formula for Kanye right now….which shows his wild lackluster direction….If u go to the movies and watcha flick but just cant see the picture or understand the meaning or figure it out…is it art? what message do we get from this album? push oundaries? we get it….808 and heartbreaks…but how else can u push boundaries and still relate to people? there must be a formula…beginning, middle, end, explosion at the end….ive tried to listen over and over..but cant come around……Jcole is cool, but i think pusha t, and this Jay Z album will be winners in my book….we will see….
what do you think about the album nigel be honest….
i can say this though….New Slaves is genius…no kick or snare….
Hot 97 be so scared to talk about the big powers in hip-hop since thay Nikki shit. Niggas co-sign whatever to keep Summer Jam line-ups intact. Foh! Yeezus was wack & I fuck with Ye
The album clearly didnt save hiphop sounds like he just mixed owl pharaoh wit indicudi and put some half ass verses on it and called it new wave. We where waiting for you to “air shit out” but I guess that was too much expectation for Yeezus still a bunch of material on theory raps about meaningless bull shit. It’s time to let the new generation progress the genre cuz these 30 plus guys are getting out of touch.
send it up is cool too
Its not a hip hop album, I like the album but its not saving hip hop
I cant say this album saved hip-hop cuz i when i listen to this album all i keep thinkin is Travis Scott Owl Pharaoh and Kid Cudi Indicud and like everybody else is saying the lyrics aren’t anything special and it’s not very much substance to them i give it a 7/10 probably wont be jamming it in a month my least favorite Kanye solo album ever seems more rushed and thrown together then any project he’s ever been involved with.
He used Daft Punk on 4 of its 10 songs. Of course this album is gonna sound electronic and robotic. i think it’s an OK album and DEFINITELY NOT SAVING HIP-HOP. C’om son! FUCK OUTA HERE WITH THAT BULLSHIT. It’s just an album to vibe to in the whip. That’s all.
how is this album not hip hop is Rapping all over the album he is just using different genre beats and its lyrical
“They see a black man with a white woman
At the top floor they gone come to kill King Kong”
“I keep it 300, like the Romans
300 bitches, where’s the Trojans?”
save hip hop? fuck outta here. kanye is dope but this album is ass
