In my opinion, its a different type of Classic, after 1999 (and maybe a bit before then) Classic was extremely hard to get, but politics entered HipHop and magazines started getting paid for their ratings, Classic became a lot easier to get because it meant putting the hottest artists on your cover, which meant more $$$…. in the 90′s GRDT would’ve been a 4 mic album and that would’ve meant very good, in the post 90′s era it is 5 mics, the same way J. Cole’s record is a 5 mic album but wouldn’t have been in the 90′s, Kendrick Lamar is one of the few albums from a non 90′s guy that would’ve likely still earned 5 mics back then… but may have only gotten 4.5 mics… Remember, Reasonable Doubt got 4 mics when it came out and there weren’t many complaints from HipHop heads back then.
Nigel thats a dumbass question…u hating
i remember every second of that album 50 had the fucking world for like 4 years his first album will always be a classic its almost like a gift and a curse cause everything would be put against that.
onblast GRODT didn’t get 5 mics ever and wasn’t seen as a classic until around 2005-2006.
probably the best album out of new york since life after death, 50 had the world on his dick for 3 years just after the buzz of that album
@onblast You Out Your Mind If You Think J. Cole Dropped A 5 Mic Album Even In This Era. Kendrick Dropped A 5 Mic Joint…..You Can’t Possibly Think Cole World Is Even Breathing Near Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City……3.5 Mics AT BEST.
