Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not “kicked off stage” for an “anti-Obama rant.” We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act.

Your points are a verbal spout of redundancy. This is not even REMOTELY about “pick your poison,” as you’re suggesting…. It is absolutely IRRELEVANT that Lupe chooses to stay, knowing what’s going on.
The fact of the matter is most of you are too afraid to discuss what he’s open to discussing. Lupe is more of a patriotic american than anyone I know right now, because he’s not afraid to tell people that they are being duped by their own government.
Jason D’Jehuti is right: There have been, and still are, PLENTY of hip hop artists that have spoken on the inherent domestic corruption, not just in the government, but in this country in general. Public Enemy, Kam (Ice Cube’s cousin, known for his song “I Don’t Think So”), hell, even early generation Kanye West, to name a few that Jason didn’t mention, have ALL spoken truth about this country. How many of them were told that they need to be humbled.
The harsh reality is, this country is corrupt. Period. Accept it. Hell, even if you don’t fight back physically, or using extreme / radical measures like some religious fanatics, you can still do something to show your discontent and NOT VOTE.
