Truth. Unfortunately he should be careful because the rest of the world will definitely take those words and misconstrue them. Isn’t he still on probation?
This is a South vs the rest of ya’ll argument lol We in the South strongly and wholeheartedly believe in this. This is not a thug or gangsta thing, I’m in VA and damn near everyone I know has a gun, I’m talking about professors at college, my teachers in high school, when I went to get my concealed carry permit years ago there was a 60 year old white woman in my class… its just the culture… my thing is this, as horrible as this tragedy is, Northerners are picking the wrong time to make a fuss… the time to make a fuss was when the Va Tech shooting happened. You could have said it was in the South with lax gun laws so see what happens, but this happened in the North with very strict gun laws but people are trying to seize the moment because these were kids
The only gun reform I am really for is changing gun show laws, as far as I know, you all don’t have these type of shows in NYC but I can easily go purchase 40 weapons with little to no regulations and I believe people from out of state can purchase as well. I think there needs to be a requirement to check at gun shows (which means a database system has to be in place) and you have to be a resident of the state to purchase which would keep Northerners from coming down South and buying guns.
I’m not sure how the gov’t convinced so many people in the North that not having guns is the “smart and progressive” way to go but we in the South think it is regressive for law abiding citizens to not be able to carry a weapon, actually we think it’s nuts. We absolutely need to improve mental health care in this country as well as change the culture that celebrates ultra-violence but that doesn’t call for gun eradication which is what people like Bloomberg really want. You all can keep your “stop and frisk” bullshit up North, shit like that would never fly in the South lol.
I agree with TI but I’m going to take it a little further. If you study or know your history any time the people in government take away the weapons from the people. Hitler did it in Germany and the Cartels are doing it in Mexico right now. In the Constitution we have the right to own and bear arms because the founding Fathers wanted everybody to be able to defend their basic human rights. As a black man especially I’m skeptical of giving up all power to the government and depending on them to protect everybody. We already know how that works with the NYPD harassing and racial discrimination. The only person that can protect you and your family is yourself trust and believe that.

i agree with tip. there are convicted felons and all kinds of other people that are unable to have a gun license & carry a gun legally. but still HAVE them. what does making them illegal gonna do? shit weed is a legal & i just smoked a blunt. there just needs to be tests & a certain criteria you have to pass in order to carry a weapon & it has to be renewed just like a drivers license. but taking them away wont help, & i damn sure wont give up my weapon just cuz the government says so. what happens when there comes a time where carrying a gun will save my life? i have the right as a man & as a human being to carry a gun, point blank. the government are the biggest murderers on the planet. how many children have they killed this year in other countries? whos checking them on their weapons?
Making it illegal wont stop it. Like someone else said, weed is illegal and yet I roll up every now and then. T.I has a good idea but it has one problem. It doesn’t account for the crazy people who already carry guns. It’s too late for them. There does need to be a strict application process for a renewable license which includes mental exams. In addition, they need to drop the hammer on the violators. To use T.I as an example, if he gets caught under the new law he should go under the damn jail instead of getting a year and community service (even if his intentions were good). But a far as taking guns away that won’t work. You’re giving law enforcement and the government WAY too much power. Can you imagine how the NYPD would be acting then?
