When deciding the cover for The Source’s 3rd annual Rookie Of The Year, The Source staff decided it was a no brainer. Delivering arguably one of the biggest albums of the year with good kid, m.A.A.d city, aligning himself with Aftermath/Interscope records and being just about every where. Not to mention that he won Lyricist Of The Year at the 2012 BET Awards over Jay-Z, Kanye West, Nas and J.Cole. Not a bad rookie year, huh?

Check below for Kendrick Lamar’s photo shoot. Did Kendrick Lamar have any competition?

LOL do anyone really believes the system.
meek > kendrick
There was no competition. The only album that could challenge Kendrick’s was Control System from Ab-Soul (oh look, another TDE dude).
overrated
@Bronson SHUT THAAA FCK UP!!!! hahahaha damnn bronson is that lil bwoi, go play with ya dick boi if ya have one.
Meek is wack as hell
life is good is better that GKMC, but im not surprised people dont get too hyped on it, it’s not as gangster/new/Dr Dre’s protégé/… as kendrick. but beats were overall better, and lyrics too.
nas had a better album, even if they were close, but Kendrick is the man of the year. Everyone except @Bronson already forgot about meek’s album.
