Nas’ latest album, “Life Is Good,” debuted with 149k records sold in the first week of sales. I think this was a solid debut, especially keeping in mind he didn’t have radio hits. Do you see Rick Ross’, “God Forgives, I Don’t,” selling more or less in the first week of sales? Will it be able to match/beat Young Jeezy’s, “Thug Motivation 103,” with 233k?

Yes I do, and thats the sad thing about it. Ross is wack, but he got the popular features and mainstream type of music. Nas’s album is the best hip hop album of this decade (yes even better than Kanye’s last one), but he didnt really have any radio hits and was down on the “def jam promotion” pecking order partly because it was his last album on his contract. Bet you def jam pushes Ross’s album like crazy.

I don’t think he will but the bad part is, he deserves to. I wasn’t a big Ross fan at first especially after he was exposed as a former correctional officer, but he’s put together a pretty decent album. And on top of that whether you like his music or not he’s put in work, his promo game is legit, he’s touring himself, stopping by at radio stations. He’s doing what he got to do and I hope to see him sell 300k in his first week. That’s probably unrealistic but the guy deserves more than that for his work ethic alone.
