As a Hip Hop Fan and Pastor in North Philadelphia, I am saddened to have heard Meek Mill’s new song “Amen” off his Dream Chaser’s 2 mixtape. My church is a just a few blocks away from where Meek aka Robert Williams grew up at, and he is widely respected as a great rapper and hometown native. But with this latest song Mr. Williams has displayed a great disrespect for Philadelphia’s Christian community.
Williams is following the same cowardice path of many popular Hip Hop artists by using disturbing analogies in their music in comparison with the Christian Church. None of these rappers choose to demean or castigate the religion of Islam, only because doing so would put their lives in physical danger. Instead they choose to blasphemously insult the church, the Bride of Jesus, by comparing it to a club, sexual brothel, or by thanking the Lord for “good p*ssy”.
And finally, as a Hip Hop fan, I want to encourage every Rap Fan in Philadelphia who is a believer in Jesus Christ, to boycott Meek Mill until he acknowledges this blatant disrespect. And being resident of North Philadelphia and Pastor, I revoke Meek’s ‘hood pass’ until this happens. If he appears at the upcoming concert at Fairhill Park, we as a Church will be there to meet him.

so a preacher can revoke a hood pass?
i hope his past and present is clean cuz i automatically wanna see if he living his life on the straight and narrow before he criticizes a young man who is working and helping others get off the streets.
where was he at when other preachers , maybe creflo dollar etc. do things that make the church look bad, does he speak out against them, idk.
and i imagine so many hiphop ppl can speak openly and freely about being a christian is because there were probably raised christian. u hear beans and styles speak about islam but in a respectful way cuz thats what they practice and they have respect for it.
i dont think rappers have a reason to bash islam, not cuz they in fear of being harmed or watever the fuck he talkin, but becuz they didnt grow up wit islam so they have no comment on it.
meek is like early 20′s so instead of calling for a boycott, why dont this PREACHER, try to open a dialogue with him to stop that from happening in the future instead of trying to tear down a young brother from the streets. a preacher should help and spread wisdom or watever the fuck they claim to be doing instead of trying to send meek back to selling drugs in the hood
…You’re ignorant “County of Kings” and if i wasn’t a Believer Id beat the hell out you because you fail to realize the Pastor is only stating the facts. Black Men can’t continue to view these “Rapper” as some type of justice to our community. How is Meek Mill helping us by glorifying himself, crime, and the disrespect of black women?
your an internet gangsta/believer. fuck outta here kid. if u wasnt a believer you would be doing the same shit u doing right now. blogging. i didnt say meek is helping you or us, he helping his ppl. why rappers gotta help us. help yourself nigga stop looking to meek mill for spiritual guidance. religious folks mad at rappers for rapping about rapper shit. u cant play both sides. only thing you beating the hell out of is your dick cornelius fuck outta here
it’s a bit extreme. But at the same time you would never see a rapper say “its some bad bitches in here….. Shalom!”
How is Meek Mill helping people off the streets “County of Kings”??? How is Meek Mill, a young black male who glorifies crime, drugs, and the disrespect of black women helping people off the streets??? Meek Mill ain’t sending a positive message of go to school, better yourself with education, say no to drugs, treat black women with respect, but in fact he’s glorifying himself and the street life. Meek Mill is only encouraging black men to continue living in ignorance. The Pastor made a legit point Meek Mill made an offensive song toward the Christian Community! Rappers don’t disrespect Islam or the Jews because they know that those communities won’t stand for disrespect! You don’t have to be born and raised believing something in order to disrespect it! You sound like all these other Black men brainwashed by the negative music that pollutes the urban airwaves. This Man of God is simply saying don’t disrespect the God and Christ I believe in! We never here rappers disrespect Buddha, The Koran, or any of the Hindu beliefs? So why does that make it okay do bash Christianity??? You sound like another ignorant black man who believes that these quote on quote “Rappers” are really helping our community by telling us to live for the moment and treat your women like hoes.
i’m not ignorant or brainwashed by any music my man. when i say he helped ppl get off the streets, i mean that when a young drug dealer hood nigga makes it big as a rapper, he takes atleast 20 niggas off the streets with him, gives them jobs within his movement. those 20 ppl then can atleast help they own families. i didnt mean he starts some after school program or homeless shelters, he got himself and the ppl he fucks wit out the streets and with him. i never said he was positive, or respects women, or doesnt glorify crime.
also i dont understand why someone who has no knowledge of other faiths want to bash other faiths? if all you know is being a christian, when u talk religion your only gonna talk what u know. what the fuck do rappers know about buddha? how crazy would it look to see ross speaking about hindu’s? its there background is christian and their audience is christian so thats that.
furthermore this preacher acts like he was bumping meek all day and was ok wit the disrespect towards the women, and the crime glorification, but once the word amen was used, NOW he has a problem.
and as a preacher he should understand that by boycotting the kid who just left the hood, if his career were to fail as a result of some boycott, meek and the 20 or so ppl he took wit him will be right back on those corners that are already occupied by the new niggas, nothing good will come out of that, he should guide a kid not tear him down. that would be the CHRISTIAN thing to do right?
What do you think of Tupac?
I have no problem with his point of view, but I want to know what Hip Hop songs he listens to on a regular and what songs he currently has in his iPod lol.. then I can comment more.
I can agree with most the things he said….but a Pastor can’t revoke a “Hood Pass”. Furthermore, I can’t see Philly riding against Meek, they love that man.
this shits a stretch … church/amen is just an allusion. He never disrespected anybody nor anything.
I’m behind “TheConscious Dreamer” 110 percent
The Word “Amen” Doesn’t Belong Solely To The Christian Community. It’s a Word Someone Created Years Ago and It Became Connected To Christianity. Religion Is Nothing More Than Ideology That People Choose To Believe In, Meaning A Man Can Pay Respects To Many Different Aspects of Different Religions, And Have His Own Ideology. In His Mind Amen May Be Thanking His God, The Way He Interacts With His God Has Nothing To Do With The Way Another Does. Then, a PASTOR, Revoking Someone’s Hood Pass. In Other Words, If He Isn’t Safe In That Community, Or Atleast That What It’s Means Where Im From. If We See You Here, You’re Going To Get Hurt, Point, Blank Period. How Christian Is It For You To Condone That?
Is that a threat at the end lol? Wow. As someone who considers himself a Christian I can’t say that I didn’t feel some kind of way about the song as well. But as a rap fan I can think of about a million other songs I listen to that are not in the Lord’s favor, whether thy mention the church or not. If this is 1 song makes you feel negatively towards Meek than you must not listen to his other records, or 95% of rap music in general for that matter. Somehow, I don’t think that church was playing “I’m a Boss” during praise and worship. In any case this is a bit extreme, and why as a pastor, you shouldn’t be worried about “competing” with rappers for ears. God’s word speaks for itself, as long as you speak it.
Drake’s video for “The Motto” was a fucking Bar Mitzvah. Why do black people feel the need to turn on their own kind when things of this nature occur? When he was giving turkeys and jackets to kids in the hood, what the fuck was this pastor doing?
I can understand where duke is coming from, however, why is he singling out Meek? There are probably 1500 emcees in Philly alone that make “negative” music, so why is Meek the target? I think he would be more effective if he attacked the “negative” music as a whole and maybe use this particular song as an example. Is saying “Amen” in a chorus worst than saying “filth foreign filth” for 4:30 over a beat?
“TheConscious Dreamer”….You were dead on with your analysis!
I was just listening to the song today for the first time. I must admit that I did have my head bobbing up and down. Then I caught the lyric and chorus half way through the song. The song, the content, was on some bullsh*t! Some things just don’t belong.
Theres a diss song by the Pastor. Its Called No Amen.

Meek Mill refuses to rap about anything socially conscious but he is not required to do that, outside of that get off his dick. Still following the religion of the people that enslaved you and wonder why you can’t find answers. Free your mind pastor.
wooww thats cray im not sayin im smarter than yall but alot of yalll some very ignorant… the pastor do respect meek mill for who he is and what his doin for his ppl but… after listening to amen.. as a pastor or christian you must realize that this is not appropiate so he defends his religion thats it and i think his right to do so. i do trust in god and sins daily knowin im wrong i pray for forgiveness but never i thank God because this sin was hot #c’mon son.. he just tryna say dont put God next to your debauchery. if you dont care about hell cool thats ur bisness but dont disrespect religion like that cuz if you do know a little bit bout ur bible and God you wouldnt do stuff like that…1

PREACHES MAD ABOUT HIM MAKING THAT SONG WHEN ITS PREACHERS OUT HERE FUCKIN AND MOLESTING KIDS OUR YALL SERIOUS ??????? HE CAME FROM THE STREET ANDJUST TRYING TO MAKE IT GIVE HIM A BREAK
To each is its own but we all must realize one thing: the use of the term “amen” wherever originated from is connected to the Christian community. I happen to like Meek Mill and this one instant will not stop me. However, I do agree with the Pastor. When I heard this ONE song off the entire mixtape, I became offended. Not as a woman. But as a Christian. And I am the last to be all holy schmoly with anyone. But it is disrespectful to use a term used to glorify the Lord as a term to recognize “bitches”. It’s just the truth. The Pastor isn’t asking much from Meek; just an apology to see the other side of spectrum. Some artist try hard to be metaphorically unique in rhyme, not realizing at times it may offend a particular group. So I do agree with the Pastor. Its the only song on the album I erased after downloading. Just didn’t feel right listening to it.
Let me start off by saying. Philly Stand Up(Uptown S.V.). I Love You Meek But Ya Lyrics Ate Outta Pocket. I Mean, You Taking About Women Not Being Shit, And For Men To Just Fuck Em And Leave. CrazyNess. But Idk. Its a Lil too late to Bann The Song Now. But I Mean, You Ready Didn’t Have To Go There. yeah It Sound Catchy, But Definitely Not That Positivity You Need To Be Showing Our Men..FaReal Doe. But Yeah I Love You. Continue To Work Hard. I’m Sure You Gone Come Up With Some Better Lyrics. I Mean Hey That’s The Reality of Things.
