A judge ruled Tuesday that prosecutors can play some of Baton Rouge rapper Torrence “Lil Boosie’’ Hatch’s violence-laden lyrics at his first-degree murder trial scheduled to begin Monday. Prosecutor Dana Cummings told Erwin she considers some of Hatch’s rap lyrics “admissions’’ and will use them to demonstrate Hatch’s “intent, motive and plan.’ In one of Hatch’s songs, titled “187,’’ he refers to himself as the John Gotti of the south side and says, “I’m the reason the murder rate sky high.’’ He also says, “Whoever try to play me, they dead now.’’

If thats the truth……..tip sould go back to jail for planin a murder gucci shoulde been charged for murder……rap lyrics r just that lyrics
wow
Bye bye Boosie, it was nice knowing you lol
haha, lock that nicca down for even mentioning a gun
damn lol … im not even gonna defend against that shit. Thats fair game, the same shit will happen to Ross or Jeezy if they ever get caught slippin.
Its just words how can u us this as case she lide befor this is to much bull dame illuminati bull only competition
Lololololol that is Fair, Well I Guess Rappers Will Start Watching What They Say Now…Bye Boosie
This would be like arresting Arnold Swartzahoweveryouspellhisname for murder, and then using the terminator movies as evidence. Hip Hop is entertainment people. We all talk about how rappers don’t really do what they say in their lyrics. This should not be fair game.
Lmao!!! at my dude making that Arnold Schwarzenegger reference
A good lawyer can discredit that for the jury to not acknowledge it.
so we’re going to accuse arnold of being a robot from the future too? weak argument…
Lol. Serves him right. Stop faking your lyrics. Every artist in the game would have a drug charge or murder charge.
this is bs, why is rap one of the only art forms people think is always based off reality is no different then a action movie or spy book. that the bs lines rap uses so their lyrics dont get them locked up . this is what happens when you keep it real in your lyrics; look for more rappers to start rick rossin in aka bs in the lyrics way more
yall gotta stop comparing movies to hiphop. when a movie is real or based on a true story it clearly states this is BASED ON A TRUE STORY. so arnold cant be accused of being a robot or watever dumb shit yall talking. rappers claim repeatedly that this is facts on wax, real life, real stories, no fake shit, so if u go around bragging about how many ppl u shot, dont be surprised if it comes up in court.
every rapper can easily put a disclaimer on they music for legal purposes that this isnt real its entertainment. they dont have to mean it, they can lie to the legal system by saying that and still spit watever they want. if the music is good fans will cop it.
cant have it both ways. yall cry all day about rick ross and how he isnt real and he’s a fruad, so he wont be a victim of this tactic based off of your own comments he’s fake so his lyrics are fake and he is clearly a character playing a role of rick ross.
if i was a rapper and talked about murder i would easily call myself fake. i would laugh it up sit down wit funk flex and say hey man thats all fairy tale and fantasy. u know i’m lying, i know i’m lying but atleast i put the disclaimer out there.
we can say this is not right which it’s not but this is what they are doing in them court rooms, and they ain’t playing with you
@ county of kings
Yes, rappers claim this is facts on wax. But most people are smart enough to know that it’s not. Rappers lie. Do you honestly think they don’t? Furthermore, other genres of music have people claiming they killed people, but hip hop is the only genre that gets taken seriously. This would not have happened to Johnny Cash, who boasted in his lyrics that she shot a man in reno just to watch him die.
*he shot a man
hell yeah rap lyrics should be used in court, if these guys want to brag and boast about how real their lyrics are, they have to suffer the consequences of those lyrics, too many rappers have been saying all types of foul shit on rap songs and making tons of money off it, now its finally time to stop all that and let them know they should think twice before bragging about how “real” they are
I’m sure that this is not the only evidence that they have against him. Plus, it was only a matter of time before someone with authority held a rapper responsible for all dumb ass, reckless, and self-destructive shit that they spew on wax. Freedom of speech does not come without consequence. If you’re lucky enough to make it out of the hood, don’t look back! And watch what the fuck you say, cause it can and will be used against you.
@ wow
The difference between Johnny Cash and most rappers, is that Johnny was smart enough to move on. Rappers make these claims on wax, weather fake or real, and then they go BACK to the hood and STAY involved in the dumb shit. Jay spilled his bizness on wax too, but he was DONE with it. You don’t see him hanging out in the stairwell of Marcy projects trying to prove that he’s real and still one of them.
Its about making better choices. This is an unfortunate situation for Lil Boosie, but he had been blessed with a permanent way out but he chose to be loyal to the wrong people, things, and activities. When will people learn that the hood is not the place to be…once you get out STAY out! Fuck what the hood thinks!
I agree, it is about making better choices. Our LEGAL SYSTEM should make better choices when deciding what is admissible in the court of law. This is about whether generic rap lyrics are proof of criminal activity. Most hip hop fans know enough about the industry to know that 90% or more of what these rappers talk about is fake. Which means these lyrics should play no role in a trail. Regardless of how ignorant or reckless they are.
