After being delayed over a year Young Jeezy finally was able to release, “Thug Motivation 103,” last week. The album debuts at number three, selling 233,000 records. His last album, “The Recession,” debuted at 260k.
What are your thoughts on the album and first week sales?
In other news Common’s, “The Dreamer / The Believer,” sold 69k.

This proves that Def Jam doesn’t know what they’re doing over there. He would have done the same number two years ago if they didnt push it back 7 times!!! Personally, I love the album! Hopefully he can find he way outta that contract and over to a label that will make his music a priority
Common… I didnt expect him to do numbers bcuz he’s not really relevant to those that actually buy albums but its nice to see that he made the top 30. Maybe he can get pass this insignificant beef with Drake and they can make a movie together or something lol.
Dat album is wack as fuck. he talkin bullshit all along. really disappointed. out
still don’t know how it sold that much … Im not hating though cos I bought that shit day one.
233,000 without a major push of promotion… I’d say his name did it alone… The album overall is nice… Showing a new Jeezy…
Jeezy numbers are big cuz he def has a strong fan base. Common did less than 70k cuz I guess his fan base is sick of Common who does Gap commercials and Queen Latifah movies. Also F-Ck sales numbers.
Album is straight fire. Way better than I expected. Streets definitely needed this. “I don’t think they know the time”
real recognize real, only rick ros fans thought this album wouldn’t sell. jeezy a plat artist and the hoodest N in the rap game of course the hood was going to buy this album. TM103 is album of the year . funny thing is ross talk all that , but ross has never seen 200k+ 1st week sales
That is the truth about Ross’ album sales. Never past 200k first week
YOu’re right about the ross numbers:
Teflon Don –> 188K
Deeper Than Rap* (2009) –> 158K
Trilla* (2008) –> 198K
Port of Miami* (2006) –> 187K
* Debuted number 1 on Billboard. I think this is a sign of a different selling trend. Especially since DTR and Trilla came out during a recession and less ppl were buying music.
With that being said, both artist make good music and album sales dont mean anything since the real money is in touring sales.
I don’t think most rappers make good money from touring unless their name is Kanye or Jay-Z. Maybe I’m wrong. Anybody have figures?
ALL YALL SCREAMIN THAT BULLSHIT AWWW I DONT KNOW HOW IT SOLD THAT MUCH…LOL… YALL MUTHAFUCKAS MUST OF FORGOT EVERY ALBUM HE EVER HAD WENT PLATINUM…JEEZY BRUH…TRAP TALK THATS WHAT HE REPRESENT THATS WHAT HES ABOUT AND THATS WHY REAL TRAP NIGGAS LIKE MYSELF DONE BOUGHT EVERY ALBUM BRUH ILL JUS DOWNLOAD ROSS SHIT..LOL JEEZY AINT NEVER CHANGED…FOR NOBODY… ALL THESE NIGGAS HATIN ON U JEEZY BUT U SHOWIN EM 233,000 THE FIRST WEEK HES SHITTIN ON U NIGGAS SO MAKE SURE WHEN U TALKIN THAT BULLSHIT THAT HIS NAME TASTE LIKE SHIT YA MOUTH BLAH!!!
How the fuck does Jeezy sell more than Common! The fuck is going on?
Home Of Philly made good point as to why Common doesn’t sell as much as he should be.
I see that you would think out of both fanbases. That Commons fanbases would actually go buy the albums and Jeezys wouldn’t. Strange huh I thought Common’s album was dope though haven’t listened to Jeezy though.
I LOVE 103 BECAUSE ITS GROWN FOLKS MUSIC ITS NOT WHAT EVERY ONE ELSE IS DOING THE BEATS DONT SOUND LIKE EVERYONE THATS OUT RIGHT NOW AN THATS WHATS UP I LIVE IN MEMPHIS AN WE RIDE WITH BIG HOMIE
The album is the bomb from start to finish! You don’t have to skip any tracks!
If you’re not out there in the trenches grinding! From what the sun come up until it go down.. Str8 trapping, not knowing if tomorrow is promise, constantly looking over you shoulder while you chasing paper. YOU CAN’T AND WILL NEVER RELATE TO THIS ALBUM! This album is for the G’z.. If you want the Hollywood pretty boy sh*t go cop Drakes album cause this sh*t is for streets.. Anything else need not apply! S/O Young Jeezy for the Trap Music!
im feeling jeezy all the way from 22′s or better to tm103 im riding with bro to the fullest and u gotta respect the man cuz he still on the streets and was down with big meech… the real big meech do your thang jeezy and augusta ga will be in the building when u come
Two thumbs up, TM103 is a great example of snowman’s progression thru the rap game and real life, while still keeping it as real and as street as he really is. its CTE or nothing nigga, blowin, money, fast.
This CD is like dat! When jezzy drops an album….Trappers get money!!! WIN!!!
well lets start by sayin I like jeezy. 103 is nice (about damn time lol). Dem numbas are ok 4 1st week. Bt lets nt talk like det da shit. The carter 3 was da last album 2 go PLATINUM I ITS N ITS 1ST WEEK! & eminem recovery album came close by goin platinum n a week & a half. Dem numbas ain’t even gold. Bt it has a lot 2 do wit bootleggin. Women are da only 1s REALLY buyin albums. Dey will buy ur album cuz dey like 1 song. Niggas will like ur whole album & still only get it on bootleg. So record sales really dnt mean shit. Bt I fuck wit rick ross heavy as well. I have 2 admit, ross is hotter. Jeezy is a narrow minded artist. Although many may say he real cuz all he can rap abt is trappn, bt its only 1 rapper n da past 2 or 3 decades dat can rap abt 1 topic his whole carrer & still sell records & dats Too Short. Ross is more versitilen& nt 2 mention how he ran 2011 wit his ALBUM, MIXTAPES, & JUMPED ON EVERY REMIX LAST YEAR. His mixtape jus came out yestaday & within a few hrs of release, he had abt 3000 likes on livemixtapes.com. Dats wer da real numbas at. On da internet You on da street. So bib ups 2 both artists, congrats on both records’ sales, & keep doin ya thang….
only a wacka flacka ass nigga would say Jeezy is trash too many 90$ babies listing to bullshit rap every album Jeezy made was consistent Jeezy is the Derrick Rose of rap he went from rookie of the year to the MVP so to all the haters eat a 8——-8 if you can’t understand what he’s saying on wax you don’t need to be listining to the mans music nuffsaid
@ illerdude- The album was wacK?????? What ish u been smokin on??? That whole album was fire but i guess u don’t know real music when u hear it
U know u a die hard fan when u haven’t took da cd out since Dec. 20. Glad to see my favorite rapper dead or alive back, and flexin on these fools. Been waiting on dis one since 09′ when it first started gettin pushed back. I fuck wit Ross and like his music but he ain’t on jeezy level at all, he might can get a bunch of likes for his mixtape on live mixtapes.com, but he never be able to create a TRAP OR DIE!!! or have da whole country trying to ban his music and niggas still ride wit him!! Keep doin yo thing snow man, cuz F.A.M.E. we all know wat this stands for!
JEEZY ALBUM WENT HARD! see you people don’t understand rappers like Jeezy…Gotti…Gucci these niggas is hood niggas that tell shit from the streets…they aint tryin tu impress hollywood or be on the news for selling the most albums…they putting shit out real niggas can relate too.. I listen tu dis album wit da bro and a cup and we can listen to it and relate to it…Yall ppl who said its wack need to get in touch with yo artist…
Young the truth real niggas gonna sell salute
‘I dont think dey no the time’…this entire album from start to finish is harder then project building bricks. My man after all these years keeps it hoood on some real live BOSS SHIT. Then he trows some stuff in for the radio the is still credible for the streetz. The song with Jay Z and andre stacks…WHAAAT? ” I dont think dey no the time”…this is certifiably one of the most official rap albums of 2011. I listen to it and I know that im official lol. put a stamp on it juuu heard
-Ya boi BIGGS
“Straiqht like that..yea I fuk wit him the lonq way..!!” I love jeezy because he keep it real..! tm103 best album love all the songs on the album..
Ross&Jeezy Go Hard..Just Get Money..That’s Wat It’s All About
