J. Cole speaks on the statement he is trying to make with his debut album, “Cold World: The Sideline Story.” He states it was important, “Lights Please” and “Lost Ones,” were on the album because they represent who he is as an artist. J. Cole goes on to compare the process of dropping, “Friday Night Lights,” to, “Cole World: The Sideline Story.” I also ask what inspires songs like, “Daddy’s Little Girl.”
So who bought the album? What are your thoughts on J. Cole’s debut? Billboard states he is projected to sell around 240k copies, is that above or under your expectations?

thats above my expectations. but if wayne can sell a mill with his garbage music cole should sell 10 mil
Agree with the truth.. At least get him to 500k in the first week. Cole World real music!! Twitter.com @Freeleezy
240k-250k is right around what I was expecting. But I will say that it is unfortunate. I read hip hop blog sites and from comment to comment you hear people talking about they want “real” hip hop back and that everybody is fake. Well, folks, J. Cole is one of the rappers that can’t get any realer. He’s s true lyricist, a humble dude, he’s hungry, doesn’t put video hoes in his videos, doesn’t have a full album of just features and has been consistant. His album may not be a classic, but it sure as hell is one of the best albums I’ve heard in years. A great, full and complete album – track after track. If you support Hip Hop, make your voice heard by supporting real artists and cop the album – it’s worth your $10, or as Cole put it, worth 2 #2′s at McDonalds. Shout out to REALTALKNY for supporting the real. Cole World, No Blanket. Chyea.
Balance is one of my issues with the album. Where were the tracks that were just him really spittin’ some shit? Where were the hard beats? If he just added like 2-3 tracks with that on it, this album jumps into a different category. Still a good album, I just expected and wanted more from him.
J who? J. Cole? That nigga ain’t that nice to me. I’m not surprised if he didn’t sell. Right now if you don’t have the same dumbed down format that all the mainstream cats have you ain’t going to sell. I might have to give his album a listen if ya’ll say it’s worth it though.
Its creepy how many dickriders JCole has and Jay has? Just saying
Best Album this year so far closet thing to it is Section 80.
I bought 2 copies; one digital and a hard copy. This dude goes hard!!!!
It’s some real Bitchassness going around.. People want too damn much… Give you the world.. you want the moon and the stars too. Cole World Twitter.com @Freeleezy follow the leader.
J coles album is solid. But not a classic. Wanted some harder beats where cole goes in. But still a good album. Refreshing to hear, compared the shit that other rappers put out.
Album is what I wanted from Cole, I do wish he had a “Losing My Balance” type of song on it but thats just a preference thing. As for his numbers, I’m impressed as hell, I honestly expected less than 100k, no disrespect to Cole…
Been on Cole ever since ’08! The Come Up-Cole World!
co-sign Truth, Feeleezy & Cole World.
cosign Mkilla. I think it’s the best hiphop album of the year by far but i still think he’s capable of a lot more. I think the album couldve benefited from one or 2 songs like “it wont be long” or “losing my balance” where he just spiits heart felt emotions but other than that the album was excellent, best thing ive heard in a while
It’s sad that he might not sell like that because it’s a really good album.Cole first album is better than wiz and other new artis these last two to three years. But its sad he want get the credit he deserve because he don’t have radio songs or making songs like how to love or marvin’s room
^^^^^^^he’ll sell and he’ll get radio play cuz he’s got a few radio singles but he didnt wanna make his album all about club songs it’s the perfect balance i think. @mr.realcool Don’t feel sorry for J cole lol he’s got the number one album in the country he’s doing good
Cole World should be selling a million. It’s a shame that sales have nothing to do with the quality of material being put out, hence J.Cole can’t go gold but Lil Wayne sells a million.
So i guess songs like dollar and a dream 3 and rise and shine where he raps the whole song isn’t the type of song ur talking about him spittin the whole time
Some of you are simply incorrigible. What more did you want? From the beginning to the end, this album bumps and the kid gives nothing but raw emotion. 4.75/5.0.
I bought this dudes album. It’s a good “authentic hip hop” album. You niggas gotta stop saying niggas is dcik riding Jay or Cole just a nigga buys a album or like the shit he puts out. There are 900,000+ Wayne dcik riders then. This is a good album, not ride out or club tracks but shit you could listen to without saying “f**k is this nigga talkin bout?!!”
240k is a lot more than I expected. I lost a bet with my nigga, I bet him he wasn’t touching big Sean numbers. It’s all good though. You win some, you lose some.
