When The Carter 3 came out Wayne was the hottest artist out period, the album was the most anticipated and most hyped album that year and he had a bunch of hit singles for himself and with other artist. Sadly the Interlude and Outro were by miles the best tracks on it. So Special was decent & Nightmare at the Bottom was a good rap ballad but i felt his heart was on this one, but his lyrical ability has fallen quite a lot and his lyrics on this were appalling but some were witty. im 24 years old and i’ve come to the realization that im not in the “young hip crowd” anymore. ive graduated from college and now have a 9 to 5. last time i watched 106 and park i didn’t even recognize most of the artists on the count down. when im in my car i prefer to listen to my ipod as opposed to listening to the radio. all that being said, im not a lil wayne fan. i though his best album was tha carter 1 and after that he changed from a lyricist to a punchline rapper. but to the “young hip crowd” he is hiphop’s savior. What jay-z and Nas were to me and my friends that’s what wayne is to them. He works very hard, maybe even harder that tupac and he is extremely marketable to the younger generation. as crazy as it sounds to me and people my age lil wayne is this generations jay-z. he’s built a music empire and 2 of the biggest musicians in the world (drake & nicki minaj) are his understudies. im not a wayne fan but i respect him and i understand why he’s so popular. so hats off to weezy and even if u hate wayne jus think of this as a win for hiphop music.
