Secondly, Ice T did NOT build his career off of being a cop killer. He built it on pimpin’, hustlin’ and drug dealin’, all of which he could actually back up. The guys he is referring to are phoney. What makes them phoney is that even outside of recording, they try and portray the lifestyle they talk about, like that’s REALLY them. He’s right, these kids will believe ANYTHING. That’s why someone like Wayne could sell subpar music at the rate he does.

Rap is about self expression and creativity. While Ice does have some valid points he needs to remember that this is entertainment at the end of the day. Whether Rick Ross chooses to rap about having mountains of cocaine like Tony Mantana or if Lil Wayne wants to talk about having as many guns as Rambo it’s all done for entertainments sake and is their creative expression. Take most of what you hear with a grain of salt, no one in their right mind would rap about someone they actually killed, were still dealing a large amount of drugs, etc.

Realize ice T and a lot old school rappers have left the family business in the hands of the younger generation, they’re making more money, but the integrity and accountability is almost gone.
