Yo….the days of one superstar player putting his team on his back and winning a championship is OVER! Look at all the teams that won this past decade (The Lakers, The Spurs, the Pistons, the Celtics, and the Lakers again). ALL of those teams had MULTIPLE all-star caliber players. Not just one, and not just two. Who the fuck did Lebron have that was an all-star caliber player (with the exception of Antawn Jamison who just RECENTLY got there)?????

Here are the facts for those of you thinking with your emotions and not with your heads, keep in mind that I am a die hard Knicks fan…….
1. After 7 years of extreme hard work, Lebron could not deliver a championship to Cleveland. The only thing Cleveland had to offer in return was money. Nothing else.
2. The press conference was a public statement that a championship ring is more important than a salary. At the end of the day, Lebron is getting paid more in endorsements than he is by any team. The money will come. He positioned himself with a great organization, great talent, and great coaches who will work with him, instead of working off him.
3. If he didn’t pick Miami, Chicago would’ve been the next smartest move for anybody who is championship minded. Not only do they have the money to afford him, but they have Boozer, Noah, Rose and Deng. A great starting line up. Keep in mind, they will money next season as well which leads me to….
4. The Knicks organization has essentially wasted the time of everyone involved. They have been making trades, spending money, freeing salary space, and getting rid of expensive contracts for years just for this opportunity. And what do they do? Pick up Amar’e Stoudemire for a max contract(great but not so great move), trade David Lee for 3 GS water boys…i mean players (Turiaf who spent a great amount of time keeping the Lakers bench warm in his career), and pick up Raymond Fenton. Now we look like the Detroit Pistons after all these power moves. What makes them think Carmelo, CP3, and Tony Parker will wanna join this team if the goal is to win a Championship?
New Jersey, LA Clippers and Cleveland never had a shot in hell.
It is all about how people view you and in the business he’s in that’s important. If the Heat go on to win multiple championships, those three players together will be credited with winning the title, not only one of them. When you think of the those Bulls team, you think of Michael Jordan regardless of how much help he had. Historically, people view those teams as Jordan’s teams. Same with the two titles the Lakers have won without Shaq. Historically, those two teams will be Kobe’s teams regardless of the big contributions from Gasol, Artest, etc.
If LeBron wins multiple championships, he’ll go to the HOF, but no one in NBA circles will ever put him up there with Jordan or Kobe in terms of determination and Kobe and Jordan’s amazing ability to motivate. See Robert Horry for proof. As much as people respect Horry for his clutch ability and # of rings, people respect others like, say Tim Duncan, even more because he won four historically “by himself”.
Lebron is the best player in basketball…just ask him, he’ll tell you. Jordan turned his name into a brand, by being Jordan. His brand stood for something. You could be proud to wear his brand on your chest. Drive, determination, work ethic. Clutch shots to win games in the playoffs, never say die, win. Lebron quit on multiple occassions over the past two years, against the Celtics most recently. I had a closet full of Lebron gear, until recently. A story writer couldn’t have written a better story…local kid plays for his home town team and was the best to ever do it. Now, what’s it say…I’m the best at tucking my tail and running to someone that can bail me out. That’s a logo I want around my neck. He will get his rings in Miami, but his brand is ruined…no longer can he go down in history as larger than life. Just some guy that played basketball. Thanks for everything you did in Cleveland and teaching us all a valuable lesson…Barkley was right, athletes are not role models.

Lebron James has forever tarnished his legacy and he will forever be remembered for this decision. There is no Top 10 player all time that would have done this. I don’t like Kobe Bryant but what I respect about Kobe is that he wants to be the best player of all time. He may never be better than Jordan but he is driven to be better than him. Lebron James has the talent to be a Top 5 ALL-TIME guy he doesn’t have the heart. He will never be considered better than any of the Top 10 All-Time guys because he took the easy way out and tried to piggyback off two other superstars … one of which has already won a championship. Lebron could have gone down as one of handful of guys who can consider themselves the greatest of all time no longer … he’ll never be able to consider himself the best player on the Miami Heat because Wade will always be able to say he won a championship without Lebron.
