People always bring up how Jay has so much money, hangs out with Oprah, hangs out with Obama, and hiss 11 number 1 albums in a row. But none of that has anything to do with music. Musicians are judged by their music, not by bank accounts or sales. When you listen to the music Jay is one of the great lyricist, but when it comes to content and versatility I can easily name 10 rappers that are better than him in that department. Can you honestly say that he is the greatest of all time? Saying he is means that he is peerless and standing above every other rapper that has ever graced the mic, and I can’t say that. Jay is good, but not the greatest.
People keep talking about Big, Pac, Pun, Big L, and other dead kings. I believe in respecting and honoring the dead, as I’m sure many of you do, but why cant we honor the living, and give respect where it is do. Jay has 10-11 #1 albums; changed ppl’s fashion sense from Jersey’s(teen wear)-to button ups(young adult)-to suits(grown); made it ok to act like a “Grown Up” in Hip-Hop(no rims/got married); put new artist on; kicked wack artists to the curb; worth over $500 million(without B); and has shown other worldly longevity.
