Jay-Z’s, “The Blueprint 3,” Is At 1.2 Million Records Sold
Eminem is at 1.5 million and dropped May 15th while Jay-Z is at 1.2 million records sold after a September 11th release. “Relpase,” opened with 618k while, “The Blueprint 3,” sold 476k in its first week of sales. “The Blueprint 3,” still has steam with, “Empire Stand of Mind,” getting major play during the World Series and selling 38k last week. In other news Triple C’s is at 17k, Ryan Leslie debuts at 12k, Lil Boosie is now 100k+ and Tech N9ne is at 40k.
The real money in music is touring, that’s why Jay-Z is damn near performing everyday.

Jigga man knows what he’s doing. Right now he has a HUGE hit “Empire State of Mind” that everybody even ppl who don’t listen to hiphop like. Jay-Z is everywhere now…performing at the World Series closed the show with a great performance at the VMA touring like crazy…etc Over the years Jay-z has made a lot of loyal fans who supports him. I think it’s safe to say that Jay-Z has never been bigger than he is today.
Gotta give cred to Em. He is doing fine even though he hasn’t had any smash hits nor is he in the media everyday.

Difference that people fail to recognize everyday is that:
(1) Eminem is white, hence that’s the reason he sells records like he does.
(2) He came in backed by arguably the best producer in the game – Dr. Dre
(3) His sells are just based out of shock value…not taking anything from him at all…but I’m sure if Eminem wasn’t backed by Dre he would not be as successful.
Jay-Z:
(1) At 39 after damn near 15 years in the game, works harder than any 20+ year old artist. Including Wayne.
(2) Jay-Z consistently markets him self his brand name better than any Artist out now.
(3) Jay-Z mastered the art of making solid albums. Albums that you can listen from start to finish, explaining hi 11 #1s. Jay-Z never really goes for having #1 single…or song…like Em or other artist…he rather have #1 album than a #1 song. In fact I don’t think he has ever in his 13 year career have a #1 song – I’ll have to research that further…
Eminem always goes for those sing along crazy singles..first….where he can reach his crazy white audience where he disses pop celebrities…that’s his MO….Jay-Z stays true to him self and releases what he feels is right at the time and should be a single.
I’m not taking anything away from Em…he’s a sick MC….spits with the best of them…but from an artist point….Jay-Z is the better artist.

jay z is doing great, is last 2 albums did 1.6 and 2 mill worldwide so he stay selling what he always do wich is very good, he is at 1.5 worldwide now and i predict he will end up doing at least 1.8 but em is doing great to comparing to the rst of the world he still is top 3 only before u2 and black ayes peace with 2.8 worldwide

C’mon RealTalkNY you can’t compare 8th week sales to 5 months sales, they plateau at that point.
What you should’ve written is that BP3 matched Relapse’s 8th week sales. In Relapse’s 7th week it brought in 39k and was #9 on the charts, taking it up to 1.2m in the US and 2.1 Worldwide. In BP3’s 8th week it brought in 39k and is at 1.2m and that’s with a record that still has steam as you say.
So you’re body for the post is quite misleading.

I initially liked the BP3 on the first/second listens.

1. Jay pushed this album 95% on his own
no major backing like interscope or universal
the Scope did the marketing for em thats why he was not out there all crazy
and Universal the best in the game at marketing and promotion thats why wayne did crazy numbers and don’t forget him and Em was pushin the shit back like crazy so people went crazy when the shit drops
2. that great numbers for jay since he is the most boot leged artist since 1999 every album of his had a major leak weeks before the drop date his shit hit the streets like free crack so in a way he had to sale crack to a crack head that had a months supply already lol give the dude some credit he been doing it all on his own since 1992 no Dre no Interscope no Universal no gimmics oh and to the ass that said Def jam had something to do with it lol dumb ass Jay aint with Def jam and he paid 3 mill to buy the rights to the album back

Jay Z sounds just as nasal,articulate and white as eminem… and also gets major pop stars to sing his hooks… he’s also in with the oprah crowd… thats why white folks fuck with him. Eminem doesn’t do songs with pop starlets or kiss oprah’s fat ass. His flows/cadence/wordplay are still 1000X better than Jay. Lyrically they are both sort of boring nowadays.
That being said BP3 > RELAPSE all day. relapse was terribly produced…BP3 is state of the art production wise. Eminem needs to go back to that motivational epic shit like on eminem show… hearing till i collapse on mw2 commercial made me wish for 2002 era marshal mathers.
