Jay-Z Gets His First #1 Record & 50 Cent Is Projected To Sell 150k
Jay-Z’s, “Empire State Of Mind,” has become his first single to becoming number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 (Source). In others news 50 Cent’s new album has early first week estimates at 150k(Source). 50 Cent’s album was on sale digitally November 9th and in stores November 16th, both weeks will be added to the official total which should be released Wednesday.
Do you think that 150k will be accurate? I think 50 Cent will do more than the early estimate.
Surprising this is Jay-Z’s first number 1 record, shows he is still on top of his game with one of if not the highest selling album in Hip Hop this year.

Well the album don’t suck. dosen’t deserve to go s low as 150,000. its a 7.5/10 and suprisingly the only album better is blueprint 3 and thats not sayin much. If it does turn out to be 150k then it is a loss if he’s on that Soundscan killer shit but it’s also a win because it’ll show he doesn’t buy his own albums like Jigga & the brass @ Def Jam that are notrious @ doing that! Before I Self Destruct debut #1 on iTunes due to pre-orders and stay no.1 for 8 days straight which shows that it was selling on iTunes more than any other album. The man once sold over a million copies in a week. Has a huge internet base who loves and hates him. Promotion is pretty good and a strong team behind him. Plus the album is phenominal. Tween sensation Justin Bieber’s debut album, “My World,” could shift 100,000 copies while “American Idol” winner Kris Allen may see his debut effort move approximately 90,000 copies. Rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures seems on track to sell about 75,000 with its first effort and Leona Lewis’ second album, “Echo,” may sell 50,000 to 60,000, as will Paul McCartney’s new live set “Good Evening New York City.”
As for the big-selling holdover titles on next week’s list, the largest will be Andrea Bocelli’s “My Christmas,” which should sell another 100,000 copies. So far in two weeks, it has moved 285,000 copies.
Next week’s chart competes with the Billboard 200 in 2008 when Beyonce’s “I Am … Sasha Fierce” blew in with 482,000 copies and Nickelback’s “Dark Horse” galloped into the runner-up slot with 326,000 copies. All told, the tally greeted six debuts in the top 10 and each of the top seven sets surpassed 100,000 copies.
Nielsen SoundScan’s sales tracking week, as reflected in Billboard’s sales charts, runs from Monday through Sunday of each week. Next week’s album charts will be revealed on Nov. 25 and will reflect data through the week ending Nov. 22.

Keep it real yall. I’m not gon front I bought all of 50’s albums because sometimes I need to block out the fun boy pretty music these rappers is putting out so every now and then I like to hear something aggressive and street. Also I’ve been listening to dude for years now since about 97 when he was freestylin on Hot 97 with Ali Vegas and them.
Now, at the same time, I see there are a million threads about this ones sales and that persons first week. NONE OF THAT s**t MATTERS. I personally think 50’s album was okay, nothing spectacular at all. The movies that came with the triple disc wasn’t bad either. Not saying s**t should win a Oscar or anything but I give the dude props for putting a lot of effort in releasing all this material packaged in a CD/DVD format.
At the end of the day, if those numbers are real, compared to his past albums yeah you can say its not that good or he flopped. Quality wise its pretty much his worst album. Yall need to stop getting wrapped up in these rappers personal lives like yall in the crew or something. Man up niggas. Listen to what you feel like listening too.
