people want hits, thought provokers, & lastly that “aggressive” music. 50 Cent says a term long enough & people latch on. But it’ll only work if it’s proper all the way around. What current “aggressive” content are u bumping these days? Can’t name any personally. When I do want it I put in Biggie or Pac’s old s@#t. They’re music was aggressive & hot. I tried playing BISD in my barbershop & by track 3 it was a wrap. That’s why a veteran artist like Jay-Z still plays & sales…hits & good music always prevail. Not that gimmick s#@t like “aggressive content”. When 50 debuted it was “In Da Club” that actually did it and though Sigel had that “real rap” everything he was on was uptempo.

Aggressive content works when ur music is good (i.e. Jadakiss). Jada stay on that street shit, and have the lyrics to go with it. His sales may not be through the roof, but the outcome was a solid album. A lot of aggressive artists are jus saying the same stuff so their fans and potential fans get bored with their music (i.e. 50 Cent). But, good music is good music, aggressive or pop tunes.

98% of East Coast rappers stick to what they like and know, aka agressive music. I don’t think it’s a good idea if you want to be worldwide famous or popular.
If our NY rappers jumped on crazy South [aka fun/party] beats I think it’d be nice. Of course not ALL the time, but more often. Look @ Jadakiss, nigga destroyed EVERYBODY on that Gucci Mane Wasted Remix. I always think if they did that they’d be on the fast track to the top [once again].
But hey, NY hip hop pride is strong so that’s why we haven’t seen that happening much I think… but in any case east coast rappers definetly need to release more fun songs/singles… Jada’s Who’s Real etc is the best!!
