its sad because Nas proved he was the better lyricist and Jay proved that you don’t need to be the best lyricist in the rap game to be the most successful.
Thats not a Jay diss, jay is good, but Nas is a better lyricist. Nas has classic albums but he doesn’t dominate the industry the way that Jay does. So what are we actually discussing, who is the better lyricist or who was more successful?

Nas has underground and mainstream appeal…9 albums: 7 platinum plus and 2 gold plus albums and counting! Jay is more commercial so of course his success as for as sales will be greater than Nas but like Nas stated: “I love rap more than being a star in rap.” In others words Nas does not get caught up in the hype pertaining to who is more successful…becuase he is secure with his talent and knows lyrically ain’t no one greater than him and he does not have to announce that to the world…because anyone with ears knows the truth!!! When it is all said and done both Nas and Jay are equals! Their fans try to differentiate the two by stating who is more lyrical or successful! But the truth is both Nas and Jay are very successful in their own lanes…because you can’t mention one without mentioning the other! They both play a very crucial element/part in hip hop!
