In the last year he has done songs with 50 Cent, Mariah Carey, Soulja Boy & Trey Songz and is now dropping a single featuring Usher. His sophomore album, “The State vs. Radric Davis,” drops December 8th.
With all that said, do you see Gucci Mane having a lot of mainstream success?

How is Gucci Mane putting out hit after hit when he’s as wack as Shawty Lo? Hell, Soulja Boy looks like Nas compared to Gucci. Did everyone forget that Gucci has released 2 albums before this that could easily rank among the worst to come out in the new millennium? This is driving me absolutely CRAZY.

Is he ready! He is slowy making a mark on the charts. His track wasted is the number 3 r&b/hip hop song in the country and I can’t believe it. That goes along with the track with Mario and the other joint with Mario which were also top 10. His new track with Usher is climbing as well. Once MTV gives you a co sign you are as good as gold.

Its not about being a hater. Its about having high expectations for the music that is being shoved in your face. The popular rap music thats out now just shows a generation change in music and society with the youth. The youth of the 90s were into more intelligent and powerful messages. Whether it was “If I Ruled the World” or “Fight the Power”. That music reflected the voice of the listeners. Nowadays, the music has dumbed down and if you talk to alot of these younger cats, so have they. I’m 26, so I’m not some hating ass old head. But I credit the hiphop in the 80s and 90s to sculpting a more developed outlook. Back then, we listened to rapper say “You cant party your life away, drink your life away, smoke you life away, f*** your life away, cause your seeds grow up the same way”. Now its “Wasted” and “Becky”. I’m sorry, but if Gucci’s popular songs, be on some ol’ bullsh*t, you cannot convince me that his album will be intelligent and deep. I know not every listener is looking for that, but maybe that speaks in volumes that maybe the listeners are just dumb and only understand music that speaks their language.

At First when, he came out he was crap to me. But these last couple of years he has been working hard on his craft and style. He has an incredible Producer in Zaytoven and he does have the charm, swag and Gangsterism in the game to do numbers. Listen to his mixtapes. He doing his thing. He grew on me. Plus before Pimp C died he recorded a song with em so he got my blessing. Do your thing Gucci. Probably do between 40-60,000 when it drops first week because of Recession and heavy downloading.

Those talking about Gucci is talentless is listening to the wrong stuff. I’m not a big fan of his features but listen to any mixtapes he has released since 2007. Why the hell is everyone comparing him to Nas, Em etc? Thats like comparing Friday to The Godfather. Sure The Godfather has more depth and better acting but damn Friday is entertaining.
