Thoughts On Eminem Not Making MTV’s Top 10 MC’s List?(Leave Your Top 10)
Eminem failed to make MTV’s top 10 hottest MC’s list after going platinum with, “The Relapse(released May 19th).” While I didn’t like any of his singles the man still sold 608k records in his first week, that alone get him a spot in the Top 10. Other MC’s missing from the list are T.I. and Jadakiss. Would T.I. be on the list if it wasn’t for him going to jail and would you put Raekwon over Jadakiss? Leave your list below.

Who made MTV the authority on hiphop music anyway. B4 Michael Jackson they never even played black music. Eminem lyrically and statistically is better than even Jay Z with more grammys, albums sold, and any other category you can think of. Taking nothing away from Jay but just making the point that Eminem is one of the greatest and should have definitily been on this list with the highest selling rap album of the year. ok well in my opinion the only thing i agree with about the list is that jay-z belongs at number 1.but i dont agree with the order of the list and im assuming the list is based on the yr of 2009,so there for i would say emenim shouldve made the list and yes it is a wonder how t.i. isnt on that list but i guess thats the politics.off the top of my head i would say the list for 2009 hottest mc’s would be jay-z(1)drake(2)gucci(3)t.i.(4)kanye(5)50 cent(6)fabolous(7)wayne(8)emenim(9)jeezy or raekwon or maybe even slaughterhouse(10)

Historically i’ve been a fan of EM but lately (besides that Forever remix and that The Warning mariah diss those were hot) but he has the flow, buzz, and the numbers to back him and i damn well he could have got a co-sign from somebody.

I think Jay @ #1 is accurate but after looking @ most of the rest of the list I would take & replace more then half the list
My list
1. Jay dropped on an independent for 1st time & still sold pretty well. Started Roc Nation. Proved @ his age he could still make hot music with 1 of the best albums of the year. Yea it wasn’t CLASSIC but it was still hot & has many possible singles on it including arguably the hottest track of the year in Empire State of Mind.
2. Em Yea his album didn’t live up to the hype but it was still pretty good for the most part. Plus the appearances he made throughout the year on high profile things such as the DJ Hero concert with him & Jay! Inducting Run-DMC into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
3. Kiss This album proved that Kiss is 1 of the best in the game! Plus he brought dope singles & videos like Letter To Big, By My Side & Can’t Stop Me. He also made 1 of the biggest moves ever by aligning w/ Jay & the ROC! He also killed every guest from My Conglomerate, Hottest In The Hood to New York Minute. Not to mention putting out a CLASSIC mixtape w/ Green Lantern & also being behind 2 of the biggest reunions of the year by having The L.O.X. reunite with Diddy & the Ruff Ryders reunion.
4. Ye Yea his last album was more R&B but he did make a few frequent guest spots here & there rapping that got him on the list! When he raps he’s on point especially on tracks like Run This Town, Kinda Like A Big Deal & Knock You Down.
5. Rae Arguably the best solo album of the year with the CLASSIC OB4CL2. Also released a solid mixtape & stays real active with his fans by making frequent connections with them through twitter, in-store signings & tours. Plus killed it with his guest verse on Cartel Gathering as well as other frequent guest spots throughout the year. Did it independently on his own label H20 well still maintaining his hard-core fan base!
6. Fab Proved to fans he’s a mainstay heavyweight in not only NY but Hip-Hop with his album Loso’s Way. Plus he had a pretty solid mini-movie to accompany the album. Made a lot of guest spots that he really did his thing on wheter it be a Hip-Hop or R&B record from Hottest In The Hood, She Got Her Own to Addiction. Opened for Jay-Z on a few tour dates over the summer.
7. Twista One of the hottest emcees there is that never gets his just due. Twista went independent & started his own label GMG where he houses up & coming future great Skooda Chose who’s also from Chicago. He released arguably his best work since Kamikaze with his new album Category F5 that’s a real solid album that got him working back with The Legendary Traxster for the 1st time in a while. Killed guest verses such as Midwest Choppers 2 & Loungin. Reunited to his roots by having tracks with fellow Chicago legends Johnny P, Do Or Die & Buk of Psychodrama that turned out real solid tracks.
8. Budden Put out 3 solid efforts in Halfway House, Padded Room & Escape Route. Plus he did it on a never before heard of label Amalgam Digital yet they still all turned out great. Has one of the biggest presence on the internet plus is always connecting with his fans. His Joe Budden TV is pretty entertaining to plus he made his former GF Tahiry into a star with it!
9. T.I. Has made a lot of noise throughout the year even with going to jail. I think he’s the most I have heard from an artist going into jail & even while in jail since Pac. Sorry to have to make that comparison but it’s true. He had a reality show on MTV where he helped kids get out of situations similar to what he faced growing up. He still has pretty hot tracks being released well he is in jail and not with just anybody but MJB like Remember Me. Not to mention he has his label being held down & he has a VH1 Behind The Music special about to be released.
10. Nas Hasn’t made to many frequent appearances since last year’s album but I think like the year they included Andre 3K on the list after dropping 1 verse. This is a same case scenario since Nas killed it on one of the best tracks of the year in Kiss’ What If & Usual Suspects off Ross’ album. Not to mention the tracks he previewed on the Rock The Bells tour coming from his upcoming collaboration album with Damian Marley are real solid to.
I would have included Ghost on the list to but he hasn’t been active enough except for within the past few weeks it seems.
PS- I think if the list would have been formulated better like in past years where they had more debate among themselves and switched people in and out of the list that would have made it more interesting rather then going about it this way!

I think the only person who should be replaced is 50 to be honest! Eminem & T.I. should have made the list but yall voted in 2 guys who didnt really do much! Raekwon only had buzz becuz he released on the same day as Jay-Z & 50 did nothing but talk shit about artists & drop one mixtape! Meanwhile T.I. had THE BEST SINGLES RUN of his career he had 4 singles in the Top 10 & his album did very well & Eminem had a big first but his buzz did die down pretty quickly tho!

For who Em is and Relapse was successful he could be on the list. BUT when look at ALL THE CRITERIA they used…”buzz, impact,sales, airplay, business ventures, Web presence”…etc.
Em was MIA for a couple yrs. Came back dropped an album made a couple videos since then U aint hear from him. Only publicity he had was the Bruno thing on MTV Movie Awards. Aint hear about tours no nothing. So i can see how he aint make the list.

Ok people, the list is supposed to be based on buzz, sales, airplay, flow, creativity, and number of hits on sites like YouTube and google, and the intangible “it” factor such as being able to start a convo by just mentioninng their name. And all over the last 12 months. With that said, this list is bunk. Most artists should not have been as high on the list ( with the exception of jay and drake). And most shouldve been gone completely. Weezy got weak and too commercial. It’s just not just quanity, it’s quality too. And he didn’t drop an album. No way he deserved #2! And Ross, gucci, jeezy, and 50 should have all been lower or off the list completely to make room for guys like cudi (creative as hell, tons of radio and web play, and sold over 100k in first week). T.I. (double platinum, great album, all over radio, tv, and the news), and easily the most ridiulous name to not make top 3 let alone the list at all is em. I don’t care what your personal views are of eminem but he undoubted was one of the most talked about rappers of the year, period. Highest selling and fastest platinum selling albums of the year. Many people didn’t get the concept but it was just that, a concept album. And his ability to tell a story is brilliant. Sorry drake but em is the one to paint a vivid picture no HD. 2 top 10 tracks (crack a bottle went #1) and 4 top 40 tracks, huge controversy around beef with Mariah and diss track (the warning), 2 MTV nods, 1 MTV award, and the forever… Well he pretty much rapes everyone on that track. His flow is so raw it’s insane. And on top of that Mtv gave the pubic a chance to vote and with 40% of all votes outta 40+ mc’s went to em. And vibe had poll for fans and they voted em hottest Alive and of all time. So stop fighting based on opinions and stick to the facts next time.

if you wanna base this years list on past achievements and sales, then em would be 1 no question. The Carter 3 sold a mil in a week and 3 mil total.. That’s great. The Marshall mathers lp sold over 1.7 opening week and over 10 total in the us alone. And if that’s not enough, he followed that up with the eminem show which sold 1.3 mil in it’s SECOND week and has sold over 9 mil to date in the us alone.
