i’m into Kid Cudi, but this is mad corny. some of his melodies/lyrics are so poppy and cheesy that it throws me off sometimes. the whole visual aesthetic does NOT (imo) fit his music. his productions/compositions are not ahead of their time or anything. c’mon man. if you’re gonna hit us with the whole “i’m from space” vibe, make some progressive, cutting edge music. electronic pop with some rappin/singing is not avant-garde. i’ll check the album though to see how it stacks up to these two:
The Blueprint 3: overall, pretty good. gets better with more listens. nice production, but no chart-toppin’ global hits on here. nothing wrong with that, but if you wanted old school Jigga Man, try Reasonable Doubt or the og Blueprint. 7.5/10
Only Built For Cuban Linx 2: way better than i expected. the beats knock and all the songs flow together very well. Ghost shines thru as the guest star and so do the other Wu family members. very refreshing to hear Jada, Style P, Beans and Busta on here. would’ve been nice to get that Nas verse since he and Rae were both on the same tour (Rock The Bells.) oh well. the album is all Rae though and that’s a great thing. an insant classic. 9/10
I pre-ordered my copy..did you?
haha….that was pretty dope.
