Ghostface Killah Speaks On Critics Saying Rappers Should Retire Due To Age

Ghostface Killah speaks on why there is no age limit on rappers. He states he won’t stop rapping but his content will evolve with him. He says if you love the music you won’t stop and you will just reach another phase but still make music your fans relate too.

what kills me is that ppl act like they are blind to seeing if an artist music is poppin or not…ice cube, snoop, warren g, mac 10, redman, meth, ghostface, rae, 8ball n MJG, UGK, e 40, too short…all these rappers still make music and they do it for their fans…nobody ever says that they shud retire becuz ppl dont care if their not a fan of them in the first place…but then u got Jay who got the most fans out of any of those guys, still wanting to make music for his fans and everybody has a problem with it…why??…Jay is my rapper of choice to listen over everyone and it will stay that way, he can make music till he is gray in the head for all i care…long as I and the rest of his fans still enjoy it, it shud be cool…Jay will know when its time to hang it up

Did the individual Beatles members retire from making music after a certain age? NO! (Paul & Ringo are still actively recording their individual material, as John did until his death in 1980, and George did until his in 2001)
Did the Rolling Stones retire after a certain age? NO! (They’re still touring)
How about Bon Jovi, or U2, or Bruce Springsteen, or the Isley Brothers? HELL NO!!!!
Hip-hop is just like every other kind of music…artists should keep doing this as long as they love it!

Ghost is on point. I have always thought that the “u too old to rap” thing was STUPID. Sure as a 35 yr old you shouldnt be rappin about the same things a 20 yr old raps about, but you should be able to rap as long as you still got the skills. You also got to understand this is just one of the things corny rappers say about Jay-Z bcuz he’s on top. They got to find some fault with dude. I am 19 yrs old..and i heavily respect the older generation of rappers…but with good music, age is the least thing on my mind…if soulja boy was spittin real stuff like jay-z then he would be in my top 5…with age comes maturity…most ppl dont have the passion for music so they listen to the beat and actually ignore the words of the songs..because they dont understand the content they automatically say..o he’s old…they shud hang it up…i listen to a track 3 or 4 times to understand the depth…so again, so cannot knock someone’s talent..if that is wat they are good at who are we to tell them we should hang it up…age aint nuthin but a number to me…so all my 30+ rappers, keep driving till the wheels fall off…
