I’m huge Jay fan and I listen to all his songs and DMX has a point to some degree. There are times when Jay raps with passion and theres just a majority of his music where he’s braggin. Thats all of what the Blueprint 3 is. Now dont get me wrong cause he should do that since he’s the best at making his money in the game. But when it comes down to it all, who’s rap would you rather listen to…A man like Tupac with passion and soul in his lyrics/writing who’s doing the rap for others or a man like Jay who’s braggin about everything they have?

Blueprint 3 isn’t a classic because jay-z has lost that heart that he had when he came into the game with reasonable doubt. X kind of has a point, and just because hes a ‘crackhead’ doesnt make it invalid, but its not completely right either. Depends alot on your definition of ’soul’ if soul is rappin about god or having that in your album somewhere is what he means then i guess Jay wouldnt have it but does that really matter? if soul is talking about the struggles of poor people or people on the corner Jay might not talk about that as much anymore, but thats not what he lives anymore either. Jay’s been the prez of def jam had 10 consec. #1’s, pop’s 2.5k bottles of champagne, married to B, and is 20 feet from Obama on inauguration day…if he still rhymed about selling drugs and struggle people would say he’s fake because he doesnt live it anymore..and as far as him bragging, im sure if most of us were in his shoes we’d say damn look at all i have..throughout his career jay’s had tons of songs with soul:

Look at Jay’s recent interview with Bill Maher where Bill gave him that book of all his rhymes, I doubt there are too many rappers who can rival that and do 1/2 pf what Jay has done on the business side of music…plus look at his actions outside of music, gave a million to new orleans right after katrina(altho he said it didnt really help), started an education fund for sean bell’s kids, these are things he didnt have to do and just chose to, I havent seen X do stuff like that… Jay might not be in the very top eschelon of musicians (Pac, John Lennon/Beatles, Kurt Cobain, Michael Jackson etc) because he hasnt given all of his time and life to music but that doesnt mean his music is soulless either…

X isnt a legend, UNFORTUNATELY. be clear, he did something huge, releasing 2 multiplatinum albums in the same year. He accomplished GREAT FEATS. The same can be said for 50 Cent. That nigga is DEFINTELY NOT A LEGEND EITHER, but they did GREAT THINGS.

Jay Z, is one of the best lyrisist ever, but he has nothing to talk about anymore. What you people have to understand is that, rap is from the streets and jay z has lost his touch with the streets, as well as other rappers nowadays.
