That beat is the direction hip hop probably should have been going for a while. It’s a sample, but not just a loop. It’s an upgrade, but it doesn’t stray too far from the roots. I don’t necessarily agree with the songs message, but that beat is cold.

I’m far from a Jay Stan and think that cats overrate a lot of the stuff he does but DOA is jammin to me. I think its crazy that folks are talkin down on it when b4 it dropped EVERYONE was saying exactly what Jay said … that they tired of autotune. Go to any blog or messsage board and look up old posts and see what was bein said.

Jay did the right thing. These lame, whack ass rappers jumping on the band wagon with using auto tune and sound stupid. And for the clown that said kanye, lil (daddy lips) wayne was innovative with using it that B.S. How can something that roger troutman did 25-30yrs ago be innovative now? Everybody on here that mentioned T-Pain talks like he was the 1st to do that. I give T-Pain a pass cuz he cant sing and he said he couldnt thats why he used it but these clown ass rappers need to get back to being original and make good music. Kanye used to be good and Lil Wayne need to go back to being a Hot Boy cuz thats when they were ORIGINAL!!! Auto tune for rappers is not good for rap and its just a fad that nobody sounds good doing but T-Pain!! Auto tune, The Stankin Legg, and The Booty Dew is killing rap!!!!

i’m not a huge fan of jay-z but i’ll listen to a song or two.and as much as i would like to stop hearing auto-tuned songs as the next person,i’m just not a fan of D.O.A cuz they let jay-z bitch ass perform on the bet awards instead of chris brown.lol,i know that’s like a stupid reason.but personally,i feel like he could’ve saved that shit for the hip-hop awards or something and let c.breezy do a tribute to mj.and I THOUGHT JAY-Z RETIRED.why the fuck he come out with something like every year??

Niggaz in the game really have no backbone to stand up to wack ass niggaz. This DOA record that got the world going crazy is wack as hell. You talkin bout niggaz who use a voice cord to sing. Good concept, alright song, beat is crazy ridicules… Now, lets talk about the motivation behind the song.
Its not close to the hottest shit jay ever spit, and though it might be a step in the right direction for “HIP-POP” (popular hip hop), the reaction just speaks to how much the media plays a role in what gets heard and what does not. MANY,MANY underground rappers hate auto tune and there is most likely countless fuk auto tune records out there that not only have more lyrical content than Jays shit, but were completed way before this song. Jay, though, has the biggest platform. He just looked at the game at a glance, sat, watched, and picked his spot, his best opportunity to have a relevant, hit record, while causing some controversy.
