Tough break. As far as retirement goes, rappers want out because they’ve made their money and want a regular life IMO. Some love the attention and some just want to go home. The industry isn’t what it seems to be when some labels want you to keep up with trends or continue on making money for them. To me, that means that they know Lupe is good at what he does because both albums have sold over the gold standard in sells and are both full of quality (or just mostly the selling over gold.) Lupe is an individual who stands out musically so why would he not want to leave the game after two successful albums. They didnt have to be multi-platinum but he made his point with his music. I wasnt too thrilled about him saying he was leaving but I guess we can thank his label and hopefully he doesn’t just throw garbage albums out to fulfill his contract.

  4. Teddy Says:

  7. Lupemperor Says:

So quick to retire? Lupe said from the get go that he ONLY wanted to record 3 albums and then sit back and put on his own artists.

By the way, Lupe is best rapper alive, PERIOD! Ain’t nobody fuckin wit him on this lyrical shizzzz.

  8. County Of Kings Says:

IMO rappers are quick to scream retirement cuz they insecure bitchasses that needs they ego stroked and wants fans to beg them to make more music. some of them is lazy, some of them arent happy wit sales and they just want to see how strong the fan reaction would be to news of their retirement.
thats sorta why lil wayne is doing so well right now, cuz alot of nice rappers barely put out music and some talk retirement meanwhile lil wayne a so/so rapper will give u millions of music for absolutely free just working hard. if these rappers love hiphop so much they should still be making music for the love even if the money aint there, arent they the ones that say it aint for the money but for the love of the game, as soon as the money slowup niggas is like fuck the game its for the money. i wish my fav rappers had a lil wayne work ethic i’d be so satisfied wit hiphop right now, his fans must love him for that

  9. CaliRepresenter Says:

He wants to retire cuz he dislikes the business side of the industry.

  10. BUCKED Says:

IF YOU DONT KNOW WHY RAPPERS WANNA RETIRE THEN UR NOT REALLY LOOKING AT THE GAME PROPERLY.

IN 80% OF THIS SHIT UR DAMNED IF U DO, DAMNED IF U DONT. TOO MUCH BULLSHIT IN THE GAME DUSNT MATTER IF UR A SUPERSTAR OR A NEWCOMER, U GET THE SAME BULLSHIT U WUDNT HV GOT 10 – 15 YEARS AGO. TOO MANY PEOPLE THINK THEYRE RECORD EXECUTIVES AND THINK THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL U HOW MUCH UR GNA SELL/ FLOP.

JUST LOOK AT MICHAEL JACKSON. HE WAS ALWAYS A LEGEND BUT SO MUCH BULLSHIT WAS FORCED TOWARDS HIM FROM EVERY ANGLE, HE DIED LONELY AND BROKE. PROVES NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU ARE, YOU WILL NEVER BE RECOGNIZED FOR UR POSITIVE SHIT DURING YOUR LIFETIME.

  11. eminem Says:

  12. JOMOMMA Says:
