MJ was an amazing artist but he did have some serious identity issues. I love THE ARTIST Michael Jackson, but I don’t like the fact that he changed his physical appearance. He went from a handsome black man to an ugly white woman. He was clearly obsessed with everything WHITE. He wanted to look white and be surrounded by white. Even All the kids he played with were white, from Macaulay Culkin to the kids who accused him of rape. Quincy Jones thought it was strange that MJ had pictures at his home of tons of white children. Well, that’s not very common for a black man…..and When he finally wanted to be a father he tried to fool the world saying those white kids were his. Everybody knows he was not the father. He even bleached their hair blonde in the beginning because they were brunnetes.

I’m not hating on MJ…like I said he was an amzing artist and I truly love the artist but I ain’t celebrating the person MJ who was a self-hating black man.

A few somewhat sporadic thoughts and points. 1. Al Sharpton is an absolute MASTER at going off on something totally irrelevant. O’Riley asks to explain the sleeping in the bed with children, and he constantly repeats that a jury found him innocent. That wasnt the subject, the subject was sleeping with little kids is weird how do you explain that, and his response is “the jury found him innocent 12 out of 12. Sharpton absolutely amazes me. What I found pretty funny was when Sharpton says “Calling Michael Jackson a child molester would be like me saying, ‘when Dick Cheney goes hunting he shoots his friends” and Bill says “well that would be fair” haha. My 2nd thought/point is that it really bothers me that white people and black people wont see things, situations, or people for what they really were/are solely because that person has the same skin color they do. If this situation was reversed and Michael was white, or born white, Al Sharpton would be all over the guy instead of sticking up for him. Just see people for who they are regardless of skin color. Like an earlier poster, I also wish Sharpton had lit into O’Reilly harder and controlled the flow of the conversation. Like most of these staged mini-debates, it’s just another case of two talking heads squabbling and digging their heels even further into the dirt.

But did you catch the part where Sharpton listed some of MJ’s accomplishments, like getting black people on MTV (just about as significant from an entertainment standpoint as desegregating buses is from a civil-rights standpoint) and being the first to bring together a strong posse of stars to aid Africa? O’Reilly immediately said that’s unimportant! I don’t see anybody saying anything about that, and O’Reilly got away with it on the show as well.

Besides just labeling O’Reilly as a racist and cursing about him, let’s get at what he’s saying and what’s troubling about it.

I appreciate Sharpton’s attempt to take a fact-based approach. I don’t care who you are, MJ is a black entertainment icon, no matter how he changed and responded to it. AND I think O’Reilly’s right that Mike Jack did things that complicate his status as a black icon. But people hated on MJ for most of his life; is this really the time to continue that?
