It’s WAY too much and yes I’m a female. However, Kelis didn’t award the judgment the f’d up system did. It’s funny how like on the rich level the system tries to “break” the men, but on the hood level the system “enables” no good fathers to do nothing. I was mentoring a girl the other day and she told me she gets $50 a month for child support. Every time I hear something like that, the shit baffles me. It’s really ass backwards! Also this kind of judgment helps to put a resentment between the mother an father of the child which is unhealthy. Meth’ started speaking some truth at the end, but keep in mind the women couldn’t take the men for it if the system wasn’t allowing it….

Whateva you are totally right that the women couldn’t get it if the system does not take it, but Kelis’ initial plan was to get $80,000 a month. As a young black man about to enter law school, this type of story scares me from actually wanting to live the American dream with a wife and children. It is proven that marriages now a days don’t last as long as they used to, and with it being embedded in a women’s mental that there is a possibility that she could get half or more (depending on a child or the number of children), it makes them less likely to want work through tough times with they husbands. Lets face it with every marriage or healthy relationship there are periods of hardship. So when the going gets tough is she going to want to work things out or make me more miserable by hitting me where it hurts, the bank.

Nas does not have to pay Kelis 55k…she was awarded 39,500 in alimony and Knight was awarded 9k! Nas does not have to pay Kelis this money for life…it is only for a short term period! Kelis was not married to Nas 10 years or more (long term marriage….THANK GOD) so therefore Nas is not obligated to take care of Kelis for a long period of time! Mr Kaplan (Nas’ lawyer) goes back to court on 9/8/09…to seek modification! A father not taking care of his seed is a different story.

They are addressing the fathers that are doing what they are supposed to do but still end up being taken advantage of by a system and a “so-called” woman who is unable to be an adult and take care of herself.

Dead beat dads isn’t the issue here. This is about a father who intends to love and support his seed. These chicks are really sad.

You can change the story into a dead beat dad story if that’s the route you want to take. That’s ok. But Red & Meth are speaking on the fathers that do what they are supposed to do.

It seems like you were personally scarred by a dead beat dad. I don’t know. Maybe that’s why you choose to have a lack of respect for all fathers in general and doubt the Nas will be there for his child. Being a father myself, I choose to believe that he will love and support his child.

I hope things improve for you and yours, but there is a such thing as a dead beat mother too; whether you want to admit it or not…..that’s on you. But those are the ones who’d rather collect from the government and the father instead of being an adult, and working hard like the father to set a good example for their children.
