Jay-Z Gives Advice To The New Generation Of Rappers
“I hear it all the time — ‘Yo, he should let the young guys, the new generation of guys come in.’ But you don’t become the front-runner in music because someone lets you. You have to claim your shoes,” Jay-Z says. “If you grow up listening to hip-hop, you love hip-hop and that’s the end of it. But if you’re a 30-year-old rapper still trying to make music like you’re 15, then you’re making it narrow. At my age, I can’t relate to a 15-year-old. I deal with mature and relevant topics for my age group — it has to all be based on true emotions. The more diversity and the more mature we make hip-hop, the bigger the net you cast.”

I remember standing at the bus stop in 6th grade with a lot going through my mind, my dad not at home, mom’s barely making the bills. And you hit me with a few songs that helped me deal with the emotions from those situations simply by recognizing them as real, being relatable and showing that despite this struggle there could be the dream of a better life and the fulfillment of that dream. Your story, the half that is real, brings hope homie. Screw these soulja boy, ringtone haters, they have no idea what you are talking about. You are ahead of of their time, perhaps on a different timeframe all together, they may never understand even with age they may remain inexperienced in this regard. There are too many ignorant hiphop fans and also rappers who don’t seem to understand that age is not a factor when it comes to music an diss niggas like LL and Jay cause they aren’t young anymore. Jay and LL are living proof that hiphop is strong.
Hiphop is a new genre of music. Hiphop is still a baby compared to Rock, country, soul reggae..etc That’s the reason why there aren’t many older rappers.
For example when rock was a new genre only young people were into the music. Nowadays you see many old rockstars because they were ones the young generation who are now middleaged. The love for the music is not gone just because they are older.
Nobody is going to say to older rockstars, country dudes reggae artists or whatever to retire, basically cause their music genre have been around for many decades and people are used to it. Many of the legends are the older cats because they’ve been around for a long time Rolling stones, Willie Nelson, Black Uhuru, Stevie Wonder…etc
The same thing will happen with hiphop in the future. 20 years from now you’ll see a lot more older rappers. And that’s a good thing, that means that hiphop is a strong genre that is here to stay and not like many people thought in the beginning that hiphop was not real music and would go away cause it was just for kids.

Jay-Z is the greatest rap artist of all time. If he stopped making music today most of the rappers would be worse off because they have nobody to imitate. My reply for all he does is bite other peoples rhymes nonsense is why can’t anybody else do the same thing and become that successful. Yall check us out! I was doing some research on Jay Z’s cd history and I just realized that Jay Z released Reasonable Doubt on JUNE 25TH 1996! The 10 year anniversery was June 25th 2006. MICHEAL JACKSON DIED JUNE 25TH 2009!!!!! The 25th is a day of music history forreal. Some of the greatest music moments and losses occur on the 25th!
