A Look At Drake’s Record Deal
Under the unusually lucrative agreement he struck with Aspire/Young Money/Cash Money Records distributed through Universal, Drake received a $2-million advance. He retains the publishing rights to his songs and cedes only around 25% of his music sales revenues to the label as a “distribution fee,” his managers said. By contrast, the overwhelming majority of new artists sign financially restrictive “360 deals” that sap their touring and merchandise income and offer much more restrictive profit-sharing.

Cash Money must be either really saving up, or just really revamping. Because $4 million, which I believe is the full worth of the deal, is a lot lol. How did Cash Money before that is what I am saying lol. No disrespect

This break down is honestly the best situation for Drake. and Real Talk is right .. artists do not get deals like this and there will be noone getting a deal like this in the next 8-10 years. Drake made a really smart move. he has a solid set up and advancement opportunities in the future. nigga the only emcee to not get ass raped. good look cash money doing this kid right.

Too many j.cole dick riders in here man. Drakes whole album was solid from succesful to uptown, that shit was more like a true album rather then a mixtape, the production was great. Drake is the future along with Wale and no little J.cole gonna even come close to what drake and wale going to bring to the table. Also no disrespect to J.cole honestly he can rap but lacks what Wale and Drake have and every Label saw what drake can do and a damn bid war was started.

Drake been around for a while but to think he would build up a hype so big in one year is amazing. The deal was well thought out, he placed himself in a situation where he will make the majority of his earnings
