Rakim – Holy Are You

“In the history of Hip-Hop, few artists have had as great an impact on the development and progression of the art form and lyrical style as Rakim. “Holy Are You” – the hypnotic lead single, is off of his long awaited new album The Seventh Seal, to be released early fall, 2009 on the artists Ra Records imprint in a joint venture with TVM and SMC Recordings and distributed through Fontana / Universal Music Group.”

  2. Thel2ealistic1 Says:

Why the hell would this be in a ‘Poppin Or Floppin’ category? Fuck the religious undertone but otherwise, this shit is dope. This nigga never disappoints.

  8. noelle Says:

I always wonder why his name flashed on the beginning of that Tia Bella dvd. Was he managing her? He sure did stretch her career out from something to nothing..yikes

  9. noelle Says:

Are him and Truth Hurts dating? Truthfully..they were both on The Blueprint 2 as well as that song she had..hmm

  10. Hi Hater! Says:

    Hottttttttttttttt

  11. .. Says:

    its okay.

now i understand rakims influence on hiphop and all that, and he is great in his zone, and theres nothing wrong about continuing to do the same thing over the years

but this wasnt nothing for me to get excited about. he does rhyme great within the space he’s given, and his multis are dope but he doesn’t break the boundaries of the beat.

example…lupe…eminem..they know how to weave through a beat…rakim still seems to be sitting on top of it. he sits on top of it like a king, but it isn’t cutting it for me.

whatevs. everyone can give him all the respect in the world for his contributions and whatnot, but as far as impact and originality, i say its floppin.

    regardless of his prestige.

he always has high IQ lyrics, but that doesn’t necessarily boost the excitement of a song.

I’m a tell all my friends about this, cause you are a story to tell.

you gotta be mad young dude.

Rakim is the original. and he is the most impactful in the game then any other rapper ever.

you must not know anything about rap with that opinion.

everybody got his style. it’s the only way to be good. so many people got his style, that they do his style on accident. he’s the creator and can’t nobody take that away from him. it’s only the truth. even new rappers got his style whether they know it or not. whether you got inspired by a young jeezy or a T.I., somewhere up top the family tree, Rakim fathered everybody’s shit. he sonned everybody.
