Weezy is hot – for the most part you’re correct in that he hasnt diversified his lyrics much since entering hip hop. Let’s be honest, do we really listen to him, birdman, drake, bow wow, soulja boy etc. for their lyrical strengths? No, we listen because either a. Sounds Good, b. its great in a club, or c. well really, we listen simply because we like it. If you want lyrics listen to hip hop form the 80’s and early 90’s when thats what the game was about. Surely, you can see the direction of hip hop isnt about the lyrics anymore its putting out what sells. IF KRS put out an album tomorrow i would be willing to wager his first single wouldnt even reach the charts.
