Should 50 Cent Drop His Album The Same Day As Blueprint 3?
Jay-Z has started his album promo early in the game. He started a big discussion in Hip Hop with D.O.A. and got The Game dissing him over his Blueprint 3 intro. With the anticipation building for the next Jay-Z album, would if be a good idea for 50 Cent to drop the same day and enjoy some free promo from the played up duel? Can we agree going against Kanye West boosted his sales?

Maybe….and I stress maybe only if they do it in a way that is friendly and benifits both… they both do a new york borough tour together like fif did last time….hit hot 97 together….do some thisis50 internet stuff together…some interviews….freestyle….you know make it different cuz we see the beef, compete thing with kanye….that’s played out….so them co promoting would be different….but a long shot for two major labels to somewhat work together…..

Forreal this shit is getting annoying, why do sales numbers matter so much. All Fifty fans tell me this one thing does 50 make quality music? He sells big numbers but so what i thought the rap game was about skill. Its funny before 50 nobody cared about sales, why do sales equate quality. To be honest i think Jay will have better sales and most importantly have a better album top to bottom. He has actually grown as an artist whereas 50 has done nothing but try to recapture his Get Rich Or Die Trying days.
If there is a competition it should squarely be focused on quality and not quantity. Thats the only way to save Hip Hop stop worrying about the numbers and maybe the music will change. With all this talk about sales in a while Soulja Boy will be mentioned as the greatest to ever do it following yall logic. High sales does not make a wack album a classic Get Rich Or Die Trying is a classic because of the material not the numbers it sold. Look at Reasonable Doubt it didnt sell Platinum till 2002 but no one can say that album wasnt a classic.

Also Jay-Z has NEVER!!! flopped, so don’t forget that. Every album is certified platinum and multiplatinum and even his linkin park collision course album went platinum. A few have only sold about 1.4 mill but platinum is platinum. Jay-z is consistant unlike alot of artists that goes platinum, than flops, and than goes gold on their 3rd lp.

Jay-z american gangster sold 425,861 copies in its first week of release.any other figures relating to that album is yet to be seen.
Kanye west sold 957,000 in his first week release of graduation and as at october 2008 had sold 2,996,000 units.
50 cent sold 691,000 copies in the first week release of curtis and as at july 09 had sold 1.3 million in the america, and 4million worldwide.
I hope this tells u everything u need to know!
50 will in the long run be the biggest benefactor from all of this.

I have but one question; WHO on here will be benefiting financially from either of their record sales? WHO? Unless you are getting money with them then it should be of NO concern to you. What you SHOULD be concerned with is, when you pay your $9.99 for whomevers album you buy, if it’s quality music or not. THAT my friends is where the benefit comes in. Did you receive quality services in exchange for currency. If that is not your concern and how much either of them sold then you should look at Michael Jackson’s, Madonna’s or Tina Turner’s record sales and then maybe you will THEN realize how you all are concerned with peanuts. As many stans have mentioned, the fact that people WANTED 50 to lose, made them by Kanyes album. I agree. I even agree with 50 dropping the same day HELPED kanye.
SO WHAT THE FUCK IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME?
People respect Hov 100x more than Kanye, so wouldnt they come out by the thousands to see 50 lose to someone they really respect?
(I’ll give you 50 stans an argument. They may not come out, because they wanted to see 50 retire. Since he lied about that, they may not see a need to come out this time, becuase he’s full of shit.)
50’s quality of album is questionable. You CANNOT say Curtis was as good as Graduation. because it wasnt. AT ALL. When “Flashing Lights” was released as a single, and was being remixed by R.Kelly & others, where was 50s single? Did his album still have a buzz?

50 recently said that “people get neyo or the dream or tpain on they album to make it hot”. Stupid nigga.
What was “Ayo Technology” or “I’ll Still Kill” about? The combination of Timberlake & Timbalnd? Akon? Take your foot out your mouth & PUT LLOYD BANKS ON COT DAMMIT.

Tisk tisk… Nigel. you really did turn into a hater didn’t you? 1st, No 9/11 didn’t boost 50’s sales they boosted Kanye’s. I don’t even really like Kanye and I bought that album just cause the whole thing was so big for hip hop as a whole… and then I actually listened to it and it was cool. 50 made that happen.
And the same thing will happen if Jay and 50 drop on the same day. That shit’d be epic. That’s all my september shopping done in one trip.
On another note tho, I’m taken odds that Game tries to release something on the same date. Can’t you just see it happening? He’s gonna at least try. That’d make his buzz just as crazy.

don’t think it is a good idea. not that i think 50 good, it is that jay z has more fans in the US then 50. 50 has more fans internationally. Jay z fans stay loyal. 50’s fans flip flop on him. he does one little song they don’t like then they have neg. comments to say. i know both albums will be hot, but the haters will be praying for 50 to flop. i definitely will be getting 50’s album

This is the kind of ignorant behavior that everyone that is not in new york see and another reason why ny is not being taken serious. Because you have the top rapper from ny dropping on 9/11/09 and now the next rapper wanting to ride the way. Let HOV have his day. Why ride the big day he wrote. O I forgot 50 has nothing to really offer and really no one is checking for him. Game ate G-unit, Then ross ate fifty. Curtiss was wack massacre only had club joint his first was his best he has actually gotten worse. Jay has proven his growth album after album he wasn’t CAlled the God MC FOR SELLING records it was his ability to keep putting out great quality music. Fifty sells records but really you really think his last two albums would even be mentioned in the top 25. I dont think so. Hov Will be mentioned in the top 5 top10 and top 20 albums of all times.. Fitty only has one record worth mentioning. in the top twenty. RECORDS SELLS OF COURSE TOP TEN BUT it’S the music the lives for ever not the numbers cause somebody else will come someday and rewrite history and take everyones crown.

@84 Dawg cats that got to him biting off BIG are always the ones that arent even big fans of BIG, i can only speak for myself but I been a Big fan since day one and erytime I hear Hov spit his lines just like in DOA i like it cuz its a reminder of how dope he was. Also, why are people trying to define skill by album sales???? Styles P don’t sale that much but does that make him a garbage emcee??? NO! He is one of the best emcees out there but isn’t successful commercially. Talib Kweli is one of the best poets to EVER! step into the booth but isn’t successful commercially either. Since The “Masscare” 50’s music has gotten stale/mediocre. Jay-Z also has mediocre songs but his albums stand out. “hardknock life vol.2″ <– CLASSIC!!! “Blueprint” <— CLASSIC!!! “reasonable doubt” <— Classic!!! “In My lifetime Vol.1″ <— CLASSIC!!!……………..”Get Rich Or Die Tryin’” <— Classic and that’s all 50 has. The massacre would have been a classic if it wasn’t for candy shop and disco inferno.
