Sonds cool, but there could NEVER be a winner. It is way to subjective. It would be like a beauty contest. You’d be like, “How did Miss Maine win” when clearly Miss California was way hotter. Also, these would be endlessly debated with a lot of the 25 and under cats would say, “Jay looked like a camel. Andre was wearing something weird. Mos didn’t cut his hair” You know, everything BUT the rhymes. However, even when concentrating on the rhymes, people like different things. Kweli and Mos bore some people. Jay talks about grown people stuff, so on and so forth. The battle would just piss people off. I think it’s a major waste of time and influence. What would be hot though, is take that money they were gonna put up and throw a benefit concert for a few causes.

Really, reading the comments, 99% of ya’ll are not even worth the debate. Most of you, just got into hip-hop (not a problem), but your history goes back to late 90’s-2000 at best. You listen to and are condition with popcorn, microwave rap.

Even with the presence of Youtube, most are still to lazy and stuck to even give a listen to people even you favorite rappers deem an influence.

People are on here calling Mos Def, a ‘hating back pack rapper’, why? Simply because he doesn’t agree that Jay is the best. I don’t either, most of his music sounds the same, has no replay value to me, and he says a bunch of nothing really. He even admitted to that on the Black Album. (Yes I have listened and still listen to some, I don’t just dislike something or someone because it’s the movement at the time.)

Mos is right. People think that because a rapper sells a lot of records that puts them in the running for the best. Maybe once upon a time people purchased good music, but then they got gassed by good singles, but as album sales show, they are getting over that bug. Unless your record company has enough money to purchase enough albums to make big first week sales (check the next week’s percentage drop….over 50% ::smh::) You ain’t movin much.

Why shouldn’t they do battle. I mean it will help some of you die hard loyalists see if your mans and dem are worth the sweat you work up on the keyboard defending them and hating people you’ve never met and most times makes just as good music as the rapper you love so dearly.

At #43 Andre 3000 and Common on Jay’s team…pfffft….he’s not there kid. He tried with the unplugged and Kingdom Come move….close but no cigar. Face it, they do real Mcing better than him. He’s conditioning for Hip-hop is off.

And people looove to hate Nas especially when Jay is mentioned….if Nas never battled Jay, you niggas would love that man. Face it and stop lying to yourself. Nas is excellent at what he does.
