Drake Is Set To Sue Over Unauthorized Album Release

Toronto rapper Drake is such a hot artist that one of his albums is selling even though he didn’t release it. An unauthorized album, “The Girls Love Drake,” which features selections from Drake’s mixtape “So Far Gone” and other tracks, was released May 28 by a label called Canadian Money Entertainment and distributed by the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) on iTunes, Rhapsody and Amazon.
If it hadn’t been disqualified on the grounds that it wasn’t an official album, “The Girls Love Drake” would have debuted this week at No. 101 on the Billboard 200, No. 16 on the Digital Albums chart and No. 1 on the Heatseekers tally.

So instead of bootleging CDs you can now put out fake albums on ITunes $$$! Drake’s team has to shut this down ASAP because they will get sued for the uncleared samples.

Despite what they say, they’re not scared of sample clearance issues. I think they just don’t want anyone stealing their steam, making money off dude for no reason and also harming potential sales for dude’s actual release.
You telling me if I take an artist’s mixtape and put it on itunes, THEY will get sued? Hell no.
It’s illegal to profit off someone else’s copyrighted material, which is why the person RELEASING the material (and therefore seeing $$$ off it) is the one who gets sued. Not the artist who got jacked.

^ U know Lil Wayne got sued for the sample he used on “I feel like dying” even though he didn’t release it? The artist/label will always be sued cuz it will be said that they should have prevented it from being released therefore they are held responsible.
