I wouldnt necessarily call him new maybe new to REALTALKNY, his last mixtape is like 2-3 years old.. Drake don’t got shit on this dude, especially not in the long run…..

Big ups to finally putting J. Cole on here.

The first time I heard him was on The Come Up, then The Warm Up To The Warm Up mixtape. I’ve been copping everything he’s dropped since. He’s definitely my favorite new artist since Lupe/Joell Ortiz came out. I’m glad Jay-Z took a chance with him and went a different route than going with a Kid Cudi type of rapper. I hate when labels pick weird ni99as and say we’re trying to be different. Fuck that, these days, being different is being an authentic rapper and having real skill of expression on the mic. J. Cole embodies all that. Listen to I Got It, Simba, Grown Simba, Split You Up. Fuck it, listen to all his shit.

This cat deserves the type of buzz drake is gettin’ but he’ll probably earn that buzz by doing what he’s already doing : working hard. Dude’s a on another level with the wordplay and he makes beats…i don’t think the game’s ready for him.
