Ummmm… unless his contract with Interscope says that Interscope is responsible for magically finding a fountain of talent and injecting some into him, then I don’t think Interscope dropped the ball at all. The 90’s are over, and so are the days of a million no-name no-talent rappers poppin up every 5 seconds and going multi-platinum. These days its going to take a hell of a lot more than good promotion to get records to sell. Its the survival of the fittest and a lot don’t fit.

It was that fast money that attracted all these over night rappers and eventually over saturated the market. Now the gig is up! fans are bored, the rhymes aint captivating, the real are blending in with the fake. Its gonna take a whole lot more than heavy promotion to sell records again. You gonna need outstanding talent or abilities to go multi-plat these days and unless you got it AINT NOBODY taking no losses by investing you.

How do you sound right now? Yes, the economy is bad and people download a lot now, but that’s b/c artists come out with hot songs, not hot albums. There were way more classic albums put out in that time period then now!! You needed talent and not swag or a hot ringtone to make it back then. Of course there were One-Hit Wonders. That will go on for all time, but the internet has given shine to artists that labels would have never messed with. It could be a good thing, but as of late it’s a definite bad thing. People are coming up without having had to put in work and that “gotta have it now” attitude is bringing hip hop as a whole down. I’m not saying it’s dead. It’s just too many artists are going mainstream before they had time to learn and master the craft.

Yea there are a bunch of classic albums from the late 90’s and early 2000’s, but that’s also the time period that the easy money started flowing and rappers got lazy. Rappers got label deals and started to take on the roles of executives when they aint know what they was doing. They fucked up a lotta money from the parent labels and quickly turned the game into a “do anything for a quick buck” gimmick. They sold out! Money came before quality and it opened the doors for all these bullshit no-talent rappers dats out right now. I didnt say Rick Ross made that. Def Jam made that budget back. I dont know what they gave Ross out the deal but I know they made 1.5 million the 1st week. And if he only made what you said, thats cool too, in the 1st week. we know he made the other 250 the next week, and thats cool too. you just got hella mad for no real reason. in his opinion em is pop, he said just b/c he raps doesn’t mean he’s not pop. pop music is an encompassing genre. there are country singers that are pop, pop means popular. Your math is off. First off doesn’t matter how big of an artists you are on a huge label like Interscope/Universal, your not getting a 50/50 split. Secondly, after expenses, record labels only make about $6.42 per CD sold. It works on a point system which is totally different. An album is 100 points. Points are split up among producers, writers, and the artists. Now, the artist doesn’t receive any money off of their share of points until the label has made back ALL THE MONEY they spent on producing the album (packaging, marketing, distribution, etc.). So you can actually go Gold as an artist and not make any money off of the physical sales of your album.

Last time I checked Lil Wayne went to perform in London and got booed off the stage. T-pain wanted to perform in Jamica and had to cancel cuz they was sendin threats his way.
