Basically 150-200k is a weak number for Ross and they are most definitely in the red.

The “#1 album in the country” is just a positive spin to make themselves feel better. Their money comes from shows and other things, like modeling (which I believe he does for 8732), making special guest appearances at places, doing verses for people, etc.

And he’ll eventually sale a good 600,000+ when it’s been about a year.

158K first week will guarantee Gold status. That’s about 500,000 albums at 10 bucks a pop (actually a little more). That translates into 5 million dollars plus ringtones plus any side promotional uses, not to mention any money made off of mixtapes, and other things like song features since his buzz was there. Point: They will profit heavily off of this album. Its not a bust or just re comping cost.

@ Sosoloco I agree that the record company will profit at gold. How well Ross profits depends on other factors I think. Like how much does HE actually make off of one record sell. Man I’ve heard sometimes its low… Plus, the artist also has other associated cost. It will be interesting to see how the sales continue in this climate period for any artist.

i can’t understand why people are still arguing this… it’s like rick ross or fifty is your man which they are NOT!!!! if you don’ t like a song or an artist, say that ish but keep the “he looks like a monkey” or “he used to be a CO” ish on lock…. it’s so played!!!!

to everyone hating on 50, he knows what he’s doing. he is a business man, his money stays right. i’m not a fan of his tactics but they work and he manages to sell. although the rap game has changed and his numbers are not gonna be ANYWHERE near where they previously were. TOS sold hardly any records from the jump and the crawl up was ridiculously slow. they were claiming to terminate on sight other ppl’s careers and that ish did not happen. what needs to be seen is if rick ross’s album will have any growth.

to everyone hating on rick ross, just because he was a CO does not mean he cannot rap and in this climate his numbers are more than respectable. with all the downloading going on nobody is going out buying albums period!!! just like dude said up top, people like vanilla ice can sell MANY records but it does not equate to talent. why can’t you (the people on this blog) buy what you like and big up what you like and comment on what you don’t like about others without being caught up in all that EXTRA ish.
