Not to single you out or anything, but i feel this is why rap sales stay low. Every dude think they can only support one artist. Everybody wanna beef. The beef is so rare in other genres, that’s why they do stadium tours. That’s why they can use little to no promotion and still do well on the billboard charts. They put “Summer Jams” in every city. That’s just their regular tours. They don’t let ego get in the way. And neither do their fans.

The only time you hear about the verbal attacks between fans of other genres is when you deal with that teeny-bopper pop stuff. Back in the day it was ‘Nsync vs Backstreet Boys fans, now it’s Miley Cyrus vs that other lil girl…. their fans are pre-teens. Let’s grow up!!! Imagine if people ain’t beef like that and you could have a tour with all Headliners!!! Sometimes you get lucky and get someone that raps to go on tour with an R&B star, but rarely will you find two plus Rappers (not in the same crew so EM, Dre, and 50 would not count) doing a stadium tour circuit.

Everybody is entitled to their own perspective of what a song that epitomizes hip-hop should sound like. I just think it’s so funny when people who claim that they’re so gangster or hood can actually say that they relate to songs or rappers that talk about all the shit that they have, that you wish you could have. My favorite thing about rappers like Eminem, Lupe, Common, Talib..etc…is that they never mention how much money they have like all of the rappers that brag and shit to a fan base with a high percentage of people within it being piss poor. U made some valid points, but i have to disagree again. If u want to be technical, the essence or the origin of hop hop if u will in the beginning had nothin’ to do w/ rhyming. Cats like Kool Herc & Afrika Bambaataa, we’re just trying to bring the neighborhoods together to stop the violence @ the time. Really the emcee didn’t come into play until the late 70’s. It was about bringing folks together to have fun, and to relieve some stress.

Anyway, hip hop @ the heart is about self expression. From Djing to Break Dancing to Emceeing it was about expressing yourself and having fun while u did your thing.

Which brings me to my point. Like i mention earlier Em expresses himself while he’s having fun. Yeah he’s not from the hood, but that doesn’t mean it’s not hip hop. It’s hip hop from his perspective. Yes it’s not (what some may say) “traditional hip hop”, neither is Outkast but it is still hip hop.
