Who Is About To Takeover Hip Hop: Drake Or Kid Cudi?
Both artist are backed by major artist, with Lil Wayne praising Drake’s abilities and Kanye West co-signing Kid Cudi’s music. Kid Cudi’s track, “Day N Nite,” was a major success and he has more potential hits with, “Sky May Fall,” & “Pokerface.”
Drake, “So Far Gone,” mixtape is one of the most popular tapes of the year. “Best I Ever Had,” & “Successful,” off the mixtape are actually getting radio play across the country. Drake has been getting exposure while appearing during Lil Wayne’s recent tour & in Young Money’s, “Every Girl,” video.
With that said who do you see taking over the Hip Hop game? Do feel they are over rated or the real deal? And if not one of these two, what other young artist has potential to blow up?

Drake appeals only to the hip hop audience but Kid Cudi has a worldwide (!) Top 10 hit with “Day & Night”. Nobody knows Drake for example in Europe but Cudi is biiiig over there. And people worldwide rather go for Kanye’s music than Wayne’s music. And from the point of style/swagger/attitude I believe that Cudi is not only hip hop (he’s just fresh) while Drake is definitely hip hop.

both are talented in different aspects of their own music.
Drake- has a smooth delivery when he’s spittin, and can do his thing lyrically at times.singin def. helps him because it allows him to expand what he wants to do with different songs.n i think all the girls are feelin him right now too.so that would help album sales n all that.
Cudi- is just completly different all together.which is cool cuz his music is a reflection of that.his delivery is ill and he can spit.n he sings too,so that allows you to be a little more creative.i think people are quick to jus hate on him cuz they dont take the time to try to listen to his songs.i have a couple of his tapes n im feelin a majority of music.
i think both will do well. Wayne and young money behind Drake, and Kanye behind Cudi.that will draw a lot of fans for both just from the following of wayne and Ye. and Wale nice too.

Drake cuz he has the females and “best i ever had” is technically not pop at all. Plus Cudi already “quit” if Lupe took 2 albums to blow Cudi has no chance. He don’t have the ethic. Drake had 3 mixtapes I’m not searchin for Cudi shit but I don’t think he’s been trying as hard. Drake is not a Wayne rip off he’s adaptable on Wayne tracks aside from that his shit is not like Wayne from content to delivery.

Drake and Cudi are both fucking sick in my opinion, I think Drake has more mainstream potential though. Wale, khalifa, big sean, couple of the other new cats are pretty dope too.

On the real, I think Drake might take this one cuz we all know women buy albums and guys download most of them.
Drake and Cudi have mass appeal world-wide. Cudi for touring wit Kanye and Drake cuz of Wayne and the fact that he did that TV show Degrassi (which honestly was poorly acted…by pretty much the entire cast).
Cudi’s got more flare, while Drake’s got more swag just like there team leaders Yeezy and Weezy respectively.
On the real I can name you like 10 Cudi songz, can maybe 3 I can recite lines from and most of which I got tired of after a bit (especially day’n'nite cuz ppl been playin dat track a year ago and now all these late comers are jumping in on dis) where as I download the Drake mixtape the day it came out and I still pump 80% of the tracks on a daily basisplus some of his older shit from earlier ones(nobody can forget Ransom). Plus correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Cudi say he wanted to give up rhymin and go into acting? Hopefully he changed his mind.
No should dismiss guys like Charles Hamilton, Wale and B.o.B. (i prefer Wale out of those 3). But it is clear these two are the definitely the most marketable.
A lot of ppl been waitin on Drake to release and album since Replacement girl back in ‘05 or somethin so he’s super anticipated and he only got 1 video out and just officially released his first single in like 4 years. Cudi’s got like 3-4 videos I bet you, ppl only know of like 2 Day’n'Nite and the crookers remix.
The laid back relaxed swag is heavy in da streets wit The Cool Kids, Fabolous and Asher Roth and to some extent guys like Jay-Z and T.I.

I think if Drake could come out with better videos i.e. Breast I ever Had, excuse me, Best I Ever Had and Cudi would tighten up his lyrical belt, i.e. A Kid Named Cudi followed up by that silly ass effort Dat Kid From Cleveland, then both have the potential to be the greats of the next generation.

Hmm..I really think that if we had to say whos going to take over at this moment…its Drake. But if you want to say who will last in the game the longest that might just be Cudi. They are both talented but Drake has more appeal in general where I see Cudi fading out somewhat in the future. Although I think that five years from now Cudi will still be in the background putting out music where Drake wouldve went in another direction to test new things.
