Cam’ron’s return to Hip Hop, “Crime Pays,” sold 43,000 records in its first week of sales. This total is less than 200 more than Jim Jones’ debut with, “Pray IV Reign.” Would a Dipset album with Cam’ron, Jim Jones and Juelz Santana be more successful than the solo albums?

The clean version CD was leaked 2 weeks before both clean/dirty were out. But people should stop this record sales shit. The money is not going to you at all. Artist make money at shows and that money is not going to you either.

I heard the CD and i didn’t like the fact that i only liked 2 New songs on it “Who” & “Homicide”. And that most of the songs leaked were on the cd. when it was told that none of the leaked songs would be in the cd. I wasn’t too happy with the CD. the MIX CD Public Enemy#1 still a classic to me.

No video on tv or radio play in rotation. Cam has done all his recent videos with his own cameras etc. Money out his pocket. Jim has had pop champainge on the countdown on 106 for how long…Had mad promotion with plays, help from Dame Dash, and that big Columbia deal, for what not even 100k sold. Cam doing this indie with only help from the internet is not bad.

And as FLAHOMIE said, THE ALBUM IS BANGIN…DONT SLEEP!!

Jim Jones had major promotion and videos. Cam did all his own promotion and shot his own videos with his own cameras and lighting and such. Not too mention Cam is independant. So even if they sold the same Cam still made more money. I bought it first day! I dont give a fuck about Jim jJones so if they were together it wouldnt necessarily make me buy it. But add Juelz and Wayn on a couple tracks I might cop again. Fuck Jim Jones. Stay tuned for Summer Jam!

Those numbers are similar to Jim Jones numbers only difference is Jim is on a major and camron is independent. Jim had radio play, big budget videos, had commercials, plays, his budget on promotion was paid through the label. While camron chose to do internet marketing and pay for video expenses himself via his film production crew. 43k would of sound bad when artist were going gold first week but now even mainstream artist aren’t surpassing 100k first week. Someone like Jadakiss who’s album was being anticipated for a long time sold 134k and that’s on a major and it even got press like it was a success. Also for those that don’t know Crime pays was cam’s last album under Asylum, he will be releasing another album later this year.

I don’t like the numbers game… I hate that shit about Hip-Hop as of late… “oh, how much did he sell his 1st week… ___ copies… Man he fell off”. Are you fucking serious! ! ! ! Officer Rick Ross sold more than Jadakiss in his 1st week, does that automatically say that Rick Ross is better than Jada… To me, and this is my personal opinion, as for hip-hop in NY or just good music… Jada and Cam brought it back.

Most of you are just plain stupid. Either way, Camron wins. How much do you think his out of pocket cost was? No major videos, No major radio play, No expensive producers or features, none, nada. So he will make a nice lump sum off this album. He the nig probably doesnt owe anyone shit. So how is that a lost. Everyone is saying dat he only sold 43k and dat sucks for someone who pretty much came back n dropped an album 2 or 3 months lata with no promotion, no push, no commercials, n just internet promotion dats pretty good. not to mention he recouped all of that on an indy label in his 1st weeks sales alone so he was really smart on this… A harlem hustla I cant at all knock it.
