LA Reid is horrible! He knows nothing about hip hop…and he talks about the same shit every interview…what he thinks will make him look cool or knowledgable about hip hip and pop culture!
Real talk, I work in the building, but LA is NOT my boss (that’s all I’ll say)
Although I didn’t originally feel this way, I think that LA Reid is a very talented individual.
UMG was very concerned when Russel and Lyor left the building. More important than the artists or music, they thought the whole brand/label would eventually go under without a great leader behind the wheel.
And, don’t get me wrong, Hip-Hop is not the same as it was at Island Def Jam. But, so what, the whole Hip-Hop industry is waning right now.
What people do not appreciate is that LA Reid saved Island Def Jam. At a time when the executives here weren’t even sure about IDJ’s future, LA made them believe and came through with results.
And, Jermaine Dupri is an idiot for trying to trash on LA after he was asked to be out. JD did absolutely NOTHING for IDJ. Those acts that he said he brought in that no one released, they were GARBAGE. That’s why we never released that stuff (I heard it. Hot Garbage).
Anyway, stop hating on LA. Dude is an actual music exec, not playing make believe like JD and Jimmy Jones (another joke).
A few things: I respect this man. The Deele was nothing to front on and he’s been party to great music ever since. I never knew how much Jay-Z is influenced by LA Reid (Jay even talks like him)Right? LOL. Even when he speaks politically instead of honestly you get the sense that what he’s saying might be true-that’s a hustler! Anyone who has the chance to work with this guy better not take it for granted. Real Music still has a chance because of Antonio Reid.
