Ok so natasha is booked, call time is 6am, she arrives, only to be told oh we don’t need you we booked somebody else, a light skin latin girl with long hair, the typical look they’ve been pushing on us in the video world lately-because they think its the look that the consumer fantasises over.Don’t get me wrong I think those women are beautiful too but we can’t keep displaying one standard of beauty. All women all colors, shapes and sizes are beautiful….
So the producer and the video commissioner came up with the excuse oh we thought she couldn’t get her hair wet so we booked somebody else. Huh? Thank god for blackberry and emails, I have mail in my phone confirming that natasha was ok with getting her hair wet. Its a damn shame that they would go to that extreme to not show a BLACK girl as a beauty object but quick to book them if its a part for a stripper or a whore

I have been to a few video shoots and notice at times light skin and hispanic females tend to get better placement. In one situation there was a group of girls to pick from and basically all the chosen females were light skin, smh.

i love dark skin women and yes i wish more rappers would show the dark skin girls becuz thats what i love.

Stop hating on them. Just a few decades ago only blonde, blue eyed girls got any gigs (see Rick James’ videos).
The most famous and popular Video Vixens are all black. Then you have a handful of Latinas making it happen (Vida Guerra, Gloria Velez, etc.).
Evey time a Latino/Latina starts making some ground, one jealous person jumps up and yells foul. Are you serious?!?!? So, we only qualify as “Black” when you want someone to have your back, as soon as we get some jobs, we’re not black any more. You’re killin me!!

LOL. This topic always makes me laugh. I mean, if they’re fine, who gives a shit what race or complexion they are? What the fuck, why do we always have to be so fuckin socially conscious when it comes to these video models. I also agree 100% with Joe_Industry_Guy. It seems like Blacks are quick to claim Latinos, especially (Puerto Ricans and Dominicans) as “Black”, until one shines more than them.. Then it’s “Black girls aren’t considered attractive”. Then if a light skinned black girl is picked, then it’s “Only light skinned black girls are considered attractive”. Then ok fuck it, they pick a girl who is neither light nor dark, sort of right in the middle. then it’s “Dark skinned girls aren’t considered attractive”. I mean come the fuck on! Get over it.. Seems like some of these tricks won’t be happy until they see Whoppi Goldberg as the lead chick in a rap video, getting slobbed down and shit.
For the record, they’re plenty of brown/dark skinned chicks out there getting paid. Like Joe_Industry_Guy said, the most well known are Black..

and @ Joe industry guy and others alike, I think the point isn’t that they are latin its that they are of a lighter shade. if it was 2 black people one lighter than the other the one closer to white would get the job.
