Let me play devil’s advocate for a sec. Everyone loved Biggie right? So how come biggie never got the same flack for being fake as Rick Ross does. Did we all forget, that big went to private school and was never no Kingpin hustler as his music would lead you to believe. Did we all forget that Big, even by his Mom’s admission, was far from a gangster. Yeah, he may have peddled drugs in the stree here and there, but what hood nigga hasn’t? Yet we all loved BIG because of his music, which at the time, was considered Mafia Music.
Tupac was a revolutionary. He had a vision but at the same time, he kicked that gangsta shit all the time. Dude never went to jail before he was a rapper. No one called him fake. In grade school, high school, and college I was taught to ALWAYS check out the author of every book I read, the writer to every article, the speaker of every speech. WHY? Because it establishes credibility to speak on the subject at hand.

Everyone is not responsible enuff, like ThugLicious, to be able to separte music from reality.

See, this is the shit that pisses me off. Officer Rick Ross has the nerve to say he’s more valuable to the Black community than 50 Cent. I’m 37 years old. I remember when Hip Hop was the Voice of the Black community. Since the white man dug his claws into it, Hip Hop is more detramental to the Black community than ever. This is to Carnage. I understand that some rappers have gotten by exaggerating their hustle, level of beef, ability to attract girls and gun play. If you understand the history in the Black community, then you should know from snappin’, the dozens, etc that we’ve made an art of takling cash shit to one another, about somebody else or about you’re self. The thing though, it was entertainment, but it wouldn’t have any meaning if what’s said wasn’t backed by some sort of truth. You may be able to stretch the truth a little, but you can’t lie about some major shit and not expect some heat. Example, When Tupac came out, he was a party rapper with Digital Underground and a concious rapper claiming the Black Panthers. Around 91′ or 92′ Tupac came out with M.C. Breed (R.I.P.) with ” I Gotta Get Mine “. From that point on he was this gangster, thug. Tupac was labled one of the biggest hypocrites in rap. You can’t claim Coke Lord status and you worked for law enforcement. You can’t rap for the ladies and be a homo. Some shit is just straight violation.

This is all very sad. When you listen to Ross you hear someone dodging uncomfortable questions (his past as an officer) and downplaying serious matters (50’s escapades with his baby mommas). The guy is clearly trying hard to put a positive spin on negative situations and it’s not working.
