Id be embarrassed to say "south music is on top" , you tellin me the only thing south can offer is dance snap music? and Crunk music? Realize Outkast didnt drop anything in the midst of this "southern" take over, they did their thing when Dre Jayz Biggie and Tupac was still big. The Hot Boyz / Cashmoney Records dropped after No Limit. Like it was all a good variety of GOOD music. Most of ya'll never heard Lil Wayne's Tha Block Is hot (his first album) i Remember my sister was the biggest lil wayne fan since before his first album.

TI and Jeezy make GOOD music bc its not about the SOUTH with them, its about the hustle and relating that to everybody. WTF IS A STANKY LEG?? DJ UNK put out the same beat with the same chorus everytime lol he's catering to "south" music, when you do something because you love it. Thats when it shows and the quality is brought out.

Rick Ross 1st two albums... CRACK. he did his THING. good music

words of advice.. YOUTUBE this: Mobb Deep - Trife Life OR Mobb Deep - Cradle to the grave..

I AINT EVEN A MOBB DEEP FAN, BUT THOSE SONGS IS PROLLY SOME OF THE GREATEST HIP HOP EVERRR!!!..

Good looks Jimshoe...I respect your comment too. But I see that a lot of us are having a hard time accepting change. At the end of the day, the people who are buying rap music in 2009 aint checking for that LOX, Joel Ortiz, Uncle Murder, Charles Hamilton style of hiphop no more. That era is gone for good. Everything has changed. The streets aint even the same no more. Blame it on life.

I totally agree with D Block. But, RADIO is to blame. Radio does not play Juelz Ortiz, Papoose, Uncle Murda & others. All day U hear Jay, 50 Kanye & Wayne. That's all U hear & some times Fabulous & D-Block. Radio has to take a chance & play new talent & hip hop FINEST of all time(including Big Daddy Kane, Guru, Krs-One, Rakim & others).

I agree with Jada about guys wearing tight pants. Soo nasty.

EVERYTHING them dudes say I have to agree w/them! From todays music, what's being played on the radio, to "the skinny jeans", those dudes are accurate! They also got it right w/the nice dudes of today(JOEL ORTIZ, Uncle Murder, Charles Hamilton).

Times have changed. I totally understand just how quick change can come without warning and lay you on ya ass. However, we can't spend too much time looking backwards if we want to move forward. The Lox will ALWAYS be one of the best of the best!! but the demographic that they appealed to are in a different place in life. Most niggas from their era are in their mid to late 30's with families of their own. Its unfortunate for The Lox and other great lyricists that a lot of hiphop isn't timelesss. The buying power of hiphop has always came from the younger generation. The real problem here is not the south, skinny jeans, or lyrical content.....its the fact that we got old. Hiphop is and has always been for the kids and young adults. It's in their hands now and they are the ones who are gonna dictate what's hot until they get old and pass it on to their kids.

This nigga Jimshoe smokin crack or sumthin. First of all... I used to be a big fan of the south. I'm from lonely Arizona. Back in 2004 through mid 2006 I was really big on the south. I loved the south like I was from there. Around the time Pimpin all over the world came out I was hooked. But then late 2006 came and thats when some New York superstars started to drop albums. Diddy, Jay Z, and Nas. I realized that the game was missin sumthin at that time becuase when I look back at September 2006 through the end of that year, I realized that was the best period that hip hop had in a long time. WHY? Because the freakin market is too southern saturated. And I've found the south to be very egotisical and self centered like they got to where they are on they own. Like the south says A LOT. The past is the past. So the New York that booed Outkast is no longer here. The New York that so called "didnt give southern artists a chance" is no longer here. The south needs to realize number one aint nobody discrediting they accomplishments like they think they are. A lot of NEW YORK rappers give niggaz like TI and Jeezy they props. Number 2 I dont see how people use record sales as the main reason why the south is winning. In 2008 only one major rapper from New York dropped an album. And that was Nas. Which is a good album and certified gold by the way. This year NY artists are makin some noise whether the south wants to admit it or not. And when your region has 5 or 6 states/cities like the south does... WHY THE HELL YOU THINK THE SOUTH IS GONNA SELL THE MOST RECORDS? Whether the south wants to admit it or not.... HIP HOP IS SOME GARBAGE NOW. And since they claim to be the don dadda of the game then yall need to grow a dick and start payin attention. Since yall the shining stars of the game at the moment... yall need to represent. There are some artists that do represent like Luda and TI... But thats only 10 percent... There needs to be more of that. Lil Wayne I'm sorry as much as I respect his hustle and drive... He's more overrated then Jay Z ever was and is today... Thats just the GOD forsaken truth. Im happy that he's sellin out shows and shit but Jay Z and 50 cent do the same thing. Its not that spectacular. All Im sayin is the south needs to wake up... Hell... EVERY WHERE NEEDS TO WAKE UP. But like I said its undeniable that the south has the ball right now... So thats all that matters... Aint no need to yell at the bench. Its the niggaz who have the ball in the crucial moments that need to be checked.

Come on. Most of the music peeps are hatin' on these days came from the south. When I was younger all the hot music came from the north and we didn't hate on it, we accepted and partied to it. Now that we got our on SWAG in the south and we got different types of music and the south is getting that MONEY, cats wanna hate on it. If you feel so strongly about it then do something about fuck sayin something. We got Soulja Boy down here taking all your kids' money, nigga doin his thing makin his own MONEY. Wayne down here sellin out all yall areas, while yall sit back and watch him wear his skinny jeans and pull in 56 million in concert sales. T.I. down here almost ready to walk into prison and still movin records like candy in kindergarten. Kanye got put on in the north but he do more records with the southern cats, cause we way more lucrative now. I know everyone down here isn't a lyricist but we don't need them to be cause some times we just wanna wild out and party and that's what it is. But if you wanna get on that lyricist tip, we'll throw Wayne, Jeezy, T.I., Bun B, even Bow Wow down here stepping up his game as he gets older. The South is a movement and we movin in on everybody.

No disrespect but I heard a Trey Songz mixtape the other day and dude got better lyrics that alot of these dudes hatin on the current status of hip hop, big up Trey!

So once again if you feel this music is not up to your standards leave in the store, someone else will buy it!
