The golden age of hip hop was when Jay-z was inspired enough to give us one of the best albums of all time(Black Album), when Eminem dropped Marshall Mathers LP on us, when 50 bought New York rap to the forefront of hip hop, when the South had actual rappers(Ludacris), when Kanye’s jaw was still in a wire, when hip hop was an entity on it’s own(no need for Louis Vuitton wallet, sneaker, wallet, chain) and especially when all the above mentioned artists were selling a milli in less than a month.
What the fuck happened yall?

At least he wasn’t a punk back than, He still was cocky tho.
What happened to the golden age idea? After Late Registration shit got weak man…

this is why kanye west continues to sell millions. just like the spoken words that comes from the bible, his lyrics brings forth inspiration. its crazy (really a blessing) that this lp dropped the same yr. that i graduated. it reinforced in me more, the will and desire i possessed to succeed in life no matter the situations. for me college dropout will always be the greatest album of all-time. (1st lp i coped on its release date) in the words of jigga “u real soulful dude”

I remember right before Kanye West first came out. he was mentioned in a article on mtv called “Mc to watch or something like that.
he was talking about how he named his first four albums already, College Drop Out, Later Registration, Graduation, & Good Ass Job.
I’d say he called that pretty well. Till he fell of the wagon, with that 808’s. He did suffer some life losses tho.
Yeah, that stink where the black album, blueprint, marshall mathers, eminem show, trap musik, get rich or die trying, no way out, life after death, country grammer, OUTKAST and countless others was like the golden age renaissance or something.
I’M 24 NOW, AND ALOT RAP SOUNDS LIKE GARBAGE
DANG THAT WAS THE ERA, SH*T IS FAR AND IN BETWEEN THESE DAYS. U STILL GOT T.I., JAY, EMINEM, DRE, LUPE, OUTKAST, BUT THEY JUST TAKEN LIKE 3 OR 4 YEARS OFF NOW.

you guys are stupid, he changed his direction but he does do shit for hip hop. even though he does the gay singing shit he always comes with the dopest beats and verses when he spits. you can play back any interview from a rapper in their rookie years and they’ll sound different from what kinda shit theyre doing today

real talk College Dropout was a classic and so was Late Registration. Man I really miss his old style, Whit his soul beats. Kanye man you gotta do a album like CD or LR again.
