He writes that Puffy lured G Dep with a $350,000 signing advance and a 5 album deal. Puffy did not offer him any counseling on how to handle money. After he spent about 1/6th of the money he discovered taxes, production contracts and stipulations held up the rest of his money. In less than 6 months G Dep was broke, in debt to Puffy and lost himself to drugs

I believe it. Does anyone realize that there has been rumors that puffy was greedy and selfish for years? Also Can anyone name 1 artist who is or was signed to bad boy, who is not dead or career in the tank? Like Jadakiss said on his first album “kiss the game goodbye” track 11, “No matter how hard you try after you sign you can not escape the rape!”

SHHI in the early 90’s niggaz like SUGE AND P they really didn’t care for they artist them niggaz was reckless. Mark Curry knows what’s up. He’s mad late with this book, though, plus P. Diddy’s attitude is accepted in this industry. It’s not like everybody else is nice. In a few years the truth about the so called “moguls” will be out there for us to talk about… It’s been this way since the beginning. I respect what his hustle, but he thinks he’s too important. He’s not the sole owner of Bad Boy Records anymore, so maybe he’s raping artists to stay afloat… To be frank, if artists ain’t recouping, and the overhead is always crazy, then the only way to make money, as a label, is to act like P. Shitty. “If you got so much cheese, where are the black distributors?” Jeru asked that a long time ago, and even independent artists depend on distributors (90% owned/or partially operated by one of the big four), so… P. Greedy is not the root of all evil. Does he make more money than the average artist or little label owner? Yes, but at this point he’s not even doing it for the music anyway. It’s just a transaction. He makes more money off of Biggie’s back catalog than with new artists… That whole Boss persona some of these dudes jacked from real mafiosos ain’t working no more… Then they appear on TV showing all the work they do to help others and all… Not cool.
